Anyone who falls under the "hard g for graphics" reasoning better say "jay-feg" 😁
JIF forever!

Hard G. Always. I have heard the sound - though ridiculous - arguments to the contrary. Nope.
Not sure if I’m alone on this one, but every time I hear someone pronounce it with the “J” I think they have a lower IQ.

One wouldn’t say, “Be there in a giffy,” would one 😂
Back in the DOS days, my company Genus Microprogramming sold the GIF Toolkit and we pronounced it "JIF" given the inventor of the format pronounced it that way. Besides, Alex Trebek says so, and that's that.

Of course it's pronounced "JIF" because it's short for Giraffe-ics Interchange Format.
All right thinking people who have been working in the tech industry since the late-80's/early-90's know that it's pronounced 'JIF'.
Young Hotshot Code Monkey: "JUST ASK AROUND, EVERYONE AGREES IT PRONOUNCED 'GIF'!!"
Me: "OK, Millennial"

What a jift to humanity
Is it giraffe or Giraffe ?
Get it, it's Funny (GiiF)
I am the only one on my team to pronounce it "jif"... and I will never give in.
It's "jif". When you invent your own file format, you get to decide what it's called.
@juliegauthier2 let's invent our own file format and make it start with a silent Q 😅
Totally Gif

It's a short for Graphics Interchange Format. So it has to be hard-G. Also the Cambridge dictionary has hard-G. https://dictionary.cambridge.org...
Is it GIPHY or JIFFY?
They're both correct. Could be pronounced (GIF /dʒɪf/ JIF or /ɡɪf/ GHIF).
"Graphics Interchange Format" - it's a hard "g" folks, not rocket science. "JIF" is a peanut butter brand, creamy or crunchy.
