According to reports, Elon Musk is setting up a team to rival the company he co-founded: OpenAI. He has even hired Igor Babuschkin, who recently left Alphabet’s DeepMind AI unit.
Do you think Elon can challenge OpenAI?
Yeah. He seems to have an extreme style but his track record shows that he has the habit of getting things done across different industries that are loosely related to tech.
That crazy guy built a billion-dollar fintech startup, followed by an affordable rocket company, and then the world's largest EV company. Recently, he even acquired a social media platform with 350 million users and he was also one of the founding members of OpenAI.
Given his track record, it's not difficult to imagine him creating something that could challenge OpenAI, Google, Microsoft, or any other major player in the tech industry.
@dhanraj tbh he didn't have much to do with PayPal. Confinity launched PayPal in 98 and they merged with Xcom in 2000. He was CEO for five-ish months before Thiel took over and pivoted to PayPal as the primary offering. Wild to think that the IPO was only like a year after that
