How much time do you spend searching for information?

Research has shown that employees spend hours (up to 3.6 per day!) search for information distributed across their tools/apps/silos. How much time do you estimate you waste every day just searching or chasing after people asking where to find something?
Pssst...Collato helps you find information instantly, using AI-powered search to instantly give you and your team the knowledge you need (no matter which tool it's referenced on). We're live today on PH! Go show us some love 🥰 https://www.producthunt.com/posts/collato-4

I try to do my own re-search and ask for specific info at the end of the day.

@laurentiu_cotet Do you ever get frustrated by how long it takes to find something, for example if it's buried somewhere in a tool you don't use very often?

@catherine_norris Not necessarily, we implemented systems when onboarding on a new project to have all the essential information available or at least have a documentation.

@catherine_norris Just had a look at Collato, I'll give it a try, if I have any feedback how can I reach you?
@laurentiu_cotet Awesome! If you've got feedback, please join our Slack community! You can access it from within the app. Otherwise, you can always shoot us a message from here: https://collato.com/contact-us (or at support@collato.com)
It depends on what type of information I am looking for. For deep-knowing, I might take even days...unless it requires immediate action
@indu_thangamuthu I guess I meant more like quickly referencing knowledge you or your team/company already has. So if you need to find a file, reference a document, etc.
@catherine_norris I referred the same too. 😆
That's why I mentioned "Unless it requires immediate action... " 💃 (I hope my boss doesn't see this)🙈
@indu_thangamuthu Next time just share your Collato map with him! Then you/your boss can find the answers they need without distracting from your flow 😌
As a startup founder, I spend a significant amount of time searching for information. Whether it's researching market trends, analyzing competitors, or exploring new tools and technologies, staying informed is critical to the success of my business. I typically allocate a few hours each day to reading industry publications, browsing forums and social media, and conducting targeted searches to find relevant information. This helps me stay up-to-date on the latest developments and make informed decisions about how to grow my business.
@amal_abdullaev That's a good approach to have. How do you find organizing your information and finding it again to reference?

I think one or two hours is enough. For me, anything more than that will send me into a deep rabbit hole and I might get lost in too much information.
Of course, if it's a more complex topic, I'll have to be more patient than that.

@katherine_connor Yep, seems about right! If you want to cut that time down to almost nothing, check out Collato 😉
Very familiar numbers from Conveo report:) The problem of scattered information definitely needs a collaborative solution. What kind of technology is behind Collato?
@anastasia_reich Originally built on OpenAI, we’ve now built an in-house semantic search engine based on state-of-the-art AI models. This allows us to be more reliable, scalable, faster, and meet German data regulations. 💪
We have dedicated % of research time before any important task which is decided before hand. For example, one task with a completion time of 3 hours will have a maximum allocated time of 25%. Serves to be very useful for many, but not all, cases.
@catherine_norris if youre talking about internal data then not much time since we are a new company. For external data 100% of time is spend for the first several days until we can start acting on it.
Yesterday i was trying to deal with the google APIs and it took me about 9 hours :)
Lucky for me, my team uses Collato, which makes distributed information accessible to anyone who needs it on my team. I probably spend 5 min or less looking for what I need!
