How to Product Hunt Launch during the weekend

We probably spend less time online during the weekend since we take a break from work and want to enjoy time with family and friends, go out, and relax. Understandably, fewer people are available to support our product over the weekend. Here are a few things that might help: 👉 Request follows for the "Notify Me" page well in advance. 👉 Use a more private email for notifications instead of a work email, as people are less likely to check work emails over the weekend – with work emails, they’ll see them probably on Monday. 👉 Send two messages to be safe: one a few days before the launch during the workweek and another right on the weekend. 👉 Engage with users who have the highest streaks – those who open the app daily, even on weekends. They’re more likely to support your product. 👉 Be active on social media and talk about this launch. Would you add something?

I would add, that launching on a weekend comes with the prerequisite that your goal is social proof (easier to get the badge) rather than leads/visitors/customers. Also, a thing that I have seen it working (on me) for product hunt launches during the weekend, is to link your product's launch with local events during Saturday or Sunday. Like give discounts or references to cool events. That might come with a bit of extra work outside (like talk with the community/event managers) but it can be a good buzz for your product.

@cryptosymposium Do you mean event on LinkedIn or where? :)

@busmark_w_nika I mean both online or physical events. Most engaging would be for physical events, you can use an app like Luma for users to pick their locations as it would be hard for you to know in advance.

I am still trying to understand the utility of the teaser / coming soon / notify me page. I think the notifications probably don't go out if the product is not featured. Moreover, many makers would reach out to their supporters personally anyway so the notify me doesn't make sense since they are notifying them via email or DM haha The rest of the tips look good! Especially engaging with active streakers. :)

@rohanrecommends I think that for people who actively follow the page "Coming soon" on Product Hunt it can be relevant so they can prepare. But usually only people who are preparing to launch are watching it precisely to see the competition and their dates. :)

Great topic legend Nika! The best thing you can do for a weekend launch is to be extremely active beforehand. Seriously, promote your teaser page as much as possible, because that’s the only way people will see you. That said, many people won’t check Product Hunt over the weekend, so you have to accept that weekends generally mean less traffic for your product. However, with fewer upvotes required, you have a better chance of becoming Product of the Day. So, my advice is: promote your teaser page aggressively and start preparing early. If you’re launching during the week, you can start 2-3 weeks in advance. But if you’re launching on a weekend, definitely start at least a month or two earlier to make sure people are following your product. That’s my recommendation!
