What’s a product that flopped but should’ve succeeded?

Some products are just too early for the market, only to be rebranded or reinvented years later. Think of Google Glass, the Microsoft Courier, or even early versions of VR. What’s a product you loved (or saw potential in) that was just ahead of its time?

VR. I was involved in virtual reality for six years, I had a profitable business developing virtual reality software, but the market died on its own after the advent of artificial intelligence. At the same time, the use of VR goes far beyond entertainment, especially for education and medicine. But the market is just microscopic. Unfortunately, the VR hardware market is also dead. It's very sad.

@dan16 Some products are just victims of bad timing or poor execution. Vine, for example, had the formula for success but lacked the monetization strategy. If it had held out a bit longer, it could’ve been what TikTok is today.

Remember Quibi? The short-form streaming service with big-name stars and high production value, designed for mobile viewing? On paper, it sounded like a slam dunk! We're all glued to our phones, short-form content is king... what could go wrong? Well, a lot, apparently. They shut down after just six months. Ouch.
