What's one habit you want to develop and one you want to drop?

Our habits assist us in growing or limit our ability to do so. It is indeed not an easy job to give up our bad habits and replace them with positive ones. It requires dedication and willpower. How do you define if any particular habit of yours is good or not? What do you practice to overcome it?

Waking up early in the morning and sleep by 11pm instead of staying up late. Although I am working during those late nights, but still want to shift towards daytime.

I want to develop the habit of sleeping early and stop worrying about things that are out of my control.

Atomic Habits by James Clear is an incredible book all about this. i.e. building productive ones and getting rid of bad ones. Changed my whole perspective. I used to be hard on myself when I'd miss a workout. Now I start each day with two cups, one with 10 marbles in it and another that's empty. Throughout the day, I take 5-10min breaks and do a bit of exercise. When I do, I move one marble. It motivates me to move all of them by the end of the day. I get competitive with myself when it's getting later in the afternoon and I still have some in there. Then I feel a greater sense of accomplishment when I move the last one. It's all about starting small and building on the habit.

Trying to keep my self aligned to schedule. Trying to drop is my habit of working late at night. Going good so far.. hopefully in next few days this will come to auto pilot mode.

I would love to create more structure for my day(s). Going with the flow haven`t worked for me that well, at least in areas where something needs to get done.

One to develop: Learning German every day. One to drop: slow down on impulse purchases (especially when it comes to snacks ๐Ÿ˜‹)

Habit to develop: I am working on becoming an active listener. Habit to drop: the urge to break into conversations with a comment/observation. Yes, they are related but also separate. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I want to drop any habit that is not serving me, and in exchange, I would like to develop any practice that will help me learn, grow and connect with the world around me.

Yayyy Absolute drop overthinking. Too many things I want to develop: reading, healthy diet, 30-min meditation everyday...

I need to develop proper time management and one habit I'd love and need to drop is subconscious self-sabotage.

The one thing I want to develop in me is I cannot work constantly. I wish I can work constantly and complete my task and then move to other foul activities like checking my mobile etc. I have an addiction of watching YouTube shorts I want to drop that๐Ÿ˜‹

Sleep early at night and be more productive during the daytime. Drop the habit of drinking way too much coffee.

That's a great question to ask, love the answers here. For me, it's writing every morning for 30 minutes. I'm already doing morning pages, but I also want to have a habit of writing 30 minutes of "publishable" content in the morning before I do anything else. Been doing this for a few days now and loving it so far. I set an alarm in my phone to notify me at the right time, and another when the 30 minutes are up, so it's very much: open up the text editor and start writing. Don't do anything else. Write until the second alarm rings. Absolute tunnel vision. Works well for me :)

Recognize when new employment rests solely upon my ability to completely change the entire culture of a long-established company, and therefore is completely doomed to fail. Loving you.

To develop - Write daily To drop - Overthinking about writing better, stops me to write.

@sushil_sharma2 Hey Sushil, Iโ€™m going around and asking solo developers, what do you use to manage your multiple side projects, brainstorm and explore ideas, track goals, and plan out tasks for apps? Thanks!

One habit I want to cultivate is playing the guitar. Playing the guitar is a great way to relax and unwind after work and helps me become more creative in my music.
