Will AI take over digital marketing?

Featured

A similar question was asked on a subreddit. Interested to know what ProductHunters think here. What are your opinion regarding usage of AI in content marketing, image generators, strategy planning, or any other digital marketing areas? Do you think AI will be more powerful than human intervention or there will be a boundary?

I think it's all a question of time. At some stage, unless there's human intervention, I think AI will take over a lot. How much of it happens in the next 10 years I'm not so sure. I've been wrong on tech predictions before though. :-)
Ash Rahman 🎮
@sven_radavics well, based on my little experience with github copilot, I can guess it will take over most of the easy to do web dev stuffs in 3-4 years.

AI is already being used in digital advertisements today. All optimization is done with AI. The human factor is undeniable, especially for creative designs. In the future, I think that we will move forward with a hybrid system to a certain extent. We will live and see.

I think AI cannot completely replace digital marketing. 🤔

I questioned Google and here's what they had to say: https://youtu.be/Yx997SsiYlw?t=1329 (YT video on Google Search Central channel)

@ashrahman Yes. I had this conversation in the start of April. They launched a core update in May that attacked the AI content sites. And in August second attack was launched through Helpful Content update. Many more to come. It's Google versus AI as my questions and John Mueller's answers clears the air.

AI cannot think on its own. If it can, that would be dangerous for all of us. AI is powerful. I've used many tools and all of them blew my mind. If you know what you want, AI can create something which can be produced by 5+ pro-people in respective fields. AI tools are like hiring a team of pros at a fraction of its cost.
John Alimi
@gaurav_verma10 I agree! "AI tools are like hiring a team of pros at a fraction of its cost". That's what machines do. They make things faster, CHEAPER and arguably better, just like we have seen in other industries like manufacturing.

I think it will compliment human marketing in a large way but I don't think it will dominate the industry
Ash Rahman 🎮
@aaronoleary Which areas do you think will be most affected?

Ai Actually does a good job creating a copy for facebook and/or google ads. I generated a lot of copys for my brand but never actually tested them. Do someone here has any exmple of their results using AI?
Jonathan Nass
@paolo_falconi it would be awesome to put Ai copywriting head to head in an A/B test with a FB/Google Ads guru!

Even while AI is helpful, those of you who work in the digital marketing sector are aware that it still requires uniqueness, inventiveness, and imagination to create new methods to interact with clients. In other words, human interaction is still necessary in digital marketing. It requires storytelling and emotion, two skills that AI lacks in the ways that are now required for successful marketing. Although there will always be a need for human talents, you'll gain from understanding and accepting that your position in digital marketing may mutate with time. The objective of the majority of businesses and marketing departments today is to figure out how to use AI to their advantage when it comes to their digital marketing strategy rather than to completely replace human employees.

I won't say Taking over but let me put it this way. A new world is opening up for digital marketers, This technology of Generative AI is still in its early stages, but the possibilities for its use in marketing are endless. In the future, generative AI could be used to create entire marketing campaigns from start to finish. For now, however, it is being used to create individual pieces of content, such as images, videos, and articles. Also, AI is capable of generating content that is creative and engaging. The biggest advantage is human creators are limited by their own experiences and biases. This means that they are more likely to create content that is narrower in scope and less inclusive. Generative AI, on the other hand, is not restricted by any human limitations. As such, it can create content that is wider in scope and more inclusive. I hope this helps.

For now, I doubt it. This technology still needs to be developed.
John Alimi
@gamerseo Absolutely, I think some of the technologies are still lacking e.g. automated designs for ads and social media content. I recently came across an app that could create a video based on a marketing copy and it was anything but usable.

Technology replacing humans... I really don't think ..Long way to go Human brain and touch would always be required

While there is no doubt that AI will play a significant role in digital marketing over the next few years, it's ultimately up to humans to determine how that will happen. In the meantime, marketers should continue to leverage AI tools and platforms for their own efficiency and productivity.
John Alimi
I think we are super close to the point where AI could create an entire campaign (e.g. Facebook ads, social media content) with all the steps in between including copywriting, automated design creation, ad optimisation. However, human intervention would still be needed for some "quality and creative control". It has almost been impossible to eliminate the need for human quality control across heavily automated industries such as manufacturing, no matter how small. In industries where automation completely disrupted the level of human intervention required (e.g. manufacturing), everyone thought the future was going to be "dark factory" models, which is taking humans out of automation. Now, with industry 5.0, the theme is "the re-humanisation of the race towards automation". For a highly creative space like marketing, I think there will be a bigger need to "humanise" AI automation compared to manufacturing and other industries. Creativity is pretty much at the core of humanity.

AI and machine learning are already changing marketing. Humans can't process all the data and tools out there. I don't see a world where the marketer becomes irrelevant (not in my lifetime at least). But I do see a world where the marketers who are willing to adapt and learn how to train the machine are going to be those who see the best outcomes.

No doubt AI has unique content and plays an important role in digital marketing and provides cost efficiency but Google don't like AI. Google put penalty to those websites who used AI tool for content writing or use of images. I think you should use original content for your website for ranking at top on Google. Like this article https://tennisdig.com/how-to-cho... uses original content by human.

@aizan0099 Do you think stock images are helpful?
Yash
AI can take some of the tasks: Keyword research, discovery and basic content writing People will still have to review: designs, writing and copies :)
John Alimi
@yashthakker I completely agree with this. Even in heavily automated industries like manufacturing, the place of human quality control has never really been eliminated.
Muhammad Anees
Yes AI will improve digital marketing
Bernard Badó
Isn't that already happening? Each day, there is a new AI writer promising unbelievable results.
Rich Watson
I do believe it will play a significant difference

There will always be a human required to check the generated product via AI, whether it is a text, an image, or whatever. Just like factories still need quality checks for products that have been produced by machines for many years 😉
