Interesting tool. I like
a) its simplicity
b) focus on adding a commentary / perspective to what is collected
c) an integrated structure that can be expanded at will by the curator
Good job.
P.S.:
1) It is not obvious to the novice user that you need to use the link available under the share icon to provide access to the page you have created. One would intuitively just grab and pass on the URL of the page he has just created.
2) It would truly lovely if the URL of published pages were a bit more intelligible (as the original URL is), as to showcase the name of the author and the actual topic instead of a bunch of garbled letters.
@robingood Thank you very much. You just got the point very well. We already confirmed the wrong pattern to copy the URL of the page. We're gonna change the UX of this feature. I didn't perfectly understand the last part. Would you give me more details about this?
@jiwon_nique_jang Thank you indeed.
Let me clarify the second point:
When I create a curated page with Additor I have a working/editing URL like this:
https://additor.io/@contentcurat...
This URL is quite intelligible as it contains the project name and title of the content. It's only missing the author.
The problem is that I cannot share this URL. That is: I can, but if I do, who uses it will not be able to access my page unless logged in.
So I go to the top of the page and click on the "Share" icon to get a publicly shareable URL, and I get this: https://additor.io/share/y/tvFaQ...
Now the URL is mot intelligible anymore. It has lost topic and title reference in favour of shortened set of illegible characters.
I think it would be of high value if such informational elements where preserved in the final URL - as Medium does for example - and optionally to allow the author to customize it (like on Bitly).
***I have also created a living example of a curated page (about curation tools / my focus) right here: https://additor.io/share/y/tvFaQ...
I hope it can be used as a useful example.
Why force use of Google auth if I simply want to use my gmail email to signup? Also why do you need the age range data from gmail to do this? Given how many users are wary of giving gmail access you may want remove this...
@shekyboy Hello, hunter. Is it annoying that much? We thought this was just the normal sign-up process that could be found in other services. We'll consider this seriously. Thanks for giving me a great feedback!
I see so many use cases for this. All of the "man I wish could..."s bundled into one. Really excited to use this for planning my writing and for product documentation to see how well it holds up under heavy use
@elou Hello, Emily. Thank you for your comment. You just caught possible use cases of Additor. I'm so happy to hear that you are excited to use ours. Please try what you wanna do and give me more feedbacks.
Very cool and extremely timely as we've been looking for something like this. I realize it's in beta but the Chrome extension seems really buggy. I collected several articles into specific projects, only to find them missing when I went into Additor. I've only been using it for a day, so maybe it's just a hiccup?
@scottwwilliams Thanks for your feedback! So sorry for some errors. Can you explain what your situation was more specifically? Then, it would help us to fix them. Of course, it's just a hiccup !! 🤧 🤧
@jiwon_nique_jang It's working now. Noticed that the site was down for a while the other day and that coincided w/ when I was using the Chrome extension, so believe that was the problem. A couple of questions & thoughts: 1) Can you share projects or make them public (like with posts)? 2) It would be nice to be able to customize project & post header images - is that on the radar? 3) When sharing a project, it would be great if I could add a note, 4) We share a lot of links in my office and it would be really useful if there was the ability to share a link when capturing it w/ the Chrome extension.
@scottwwilliams Thanks for feedbacks! 1) Of course, you can. In your post page, please click the 'Share' button. Then, you can get the URL to share your content publicly. Also, you can invite collaborators to your project to make something together. 2) It is also possible. In your post page, please click the 'Post Setting' button. When you click the 'Header Image', you can change your image. We're working on the feature that users can upload their own images. 3) Great idea. It's added to our to-do-list. 4) Now, you can paste or enter a link in your post page w/ Chrome extension. You see the black '+' button in a section. By clicking 'Add URL' button, you can do this. It seems that our onboarding is poor. Your feedback really helped us to enhance our product. Thank you again. 🙌
@jiwon_nique_jang Another question/recommendation...I'm really digging additor but one thing that would be incredibly useful is the ability to upload files. I'm a heavy Evernote user and one of the things I like best is that I can upload and attach files, but Evernote misses on a couple of things that you appear to do really well. For example, I'm in the middle of planning our family's summer vacation to Europe, so I've got tons of info to organize. I'm a tagger, so it's easy for me to find the info in Evernote, but not a good way to display it in its entirety if that makes sense. In Additor, I've created the trip as a project and have added it as a post. I've created sections for itinerary, each city (hotel, things to do, etc.) and more. Visually and functionally, Additor is great for this. The only catch is that I'd love to be able to upload files (e.g. our itinerary, which is in PDF format). I could scrape the data and add it as a note, but it would take a little time (not to mention the time required to format the data).
TLDR, I know. I'd rather correspond w/ you via Slack, email or other preferred method Instead of cluttering up your "Hunt." Let me know if that's possible, and if so, method to reach you.
@scottwwilliams Hello, Scott. I was so touched by your awesome feedback. 😵 Uploading files including docs, images, and PDFs is on the backlog list. Our team always tries so hard to offer the best UX for any feature that we need some time, not that much, to work on this.
Actually, I'm planning many ways to directly communicate with our early users like you. Please, stay tuned for this. For now, you can contact me via my personal email. jiwon.jang@additor.io
Cheers,
@watweet Thanks for your question. Additor is an independent tool more focusing on organizing research and publish contents. I think Notion is a full-featured docs app within a team. We're gonna test many use cases. Please give me more feedbacks.
Have a big chance to share the valuable information with team. It's the best choice to organize the structure of information. Don't hesitate to try it!!
@andrew_viktorov Wow. You are one of our early users. Thank you so much. After we update the very next version, you will use Additor every day, not almost. :)
@tafkaf Thanks for your feedback. We also think pricing model or business model is one of the most important for startups. However, we got hunted unexpectedly😓, and it's been only a week since we decided to 'test' our beta. Why don't you give me more your opinion on this subject? If possible, please contact me ' jiwon.jang@additor.io'.
@jiwon_nique_jang@additor Hey, thanks for the clarification, and congratulations to the hunt :)
It´s not about you or your product. I am just tired of "hunting" for the price tag in general.
@john_mitchell@alexanderspoor Hello, hunters! Actually, we updated many things but our landing page. It's quite different now.😅 We think that Notion is a full-featured docs app within a team. Additor is to organize online research and make it a content to share. Since Additor is just a baby, please stay tuned and see how we grow up. Thank you. 🙌
I've been checking Product Hunt daily for almost a year and I have never felt the need to congratulate before. Any chance there's an offline version in the works? This took less than 10 minutes to usurp Pocket in my workflow.
@alex_dyamond Hello, Alex. What a compliment! Thanks. The offline version is one of our backlogs. Please, stay tuned! I'm so happy to meet the right one who can take advantage of Additor. 🙃
Hello There! I found Additor just before you landed here on Product Hunt and I'm falling in love with the tool! I'm a very visual person and haven't been happy with very linear based project management tools. I also have an out of sight, out of mind behavior towards things filed away in Evernote. I have tried using Trello to collect my project research and notes when what I needed was something like this! It's so easy to use and brings peace to my scattered and redundant notes, bookmarks, articles, etc. I currently use Feedly for content and often save things to boards there or into Pocket for later. I'd love to be able to send my articles directly from Feedly over to your tool at some point. (I tend to read articles on my phone and then shoot them off to my social media feeds or try to organize them for project work later. I have also been using start.me to collect my bookmarks which this tool can totally replace. I've always got too many tabs open or find myself revisiting and researching for content on the web. I'm really excited to watch this product develop! Bravo! This is one of the best tools I have seen for dealing with my ADHD! I'm experiencing so much more planning peace and I haven't even started sharing my projects with any other folks! I even have a section for all our house remodel and gardening projects. I was stuck in the vortex of Pinterest before your tool for saving inspiring content. Yuck! A terrible unorganized mess without proper notes, categories, and search abilities. I'm thrilled with the product. I'm really excited about your product!!! Yay!
@nwhrgal I'm so flattered you'd love to use Additor. I'm really excited to meet you here! Yay! 🔥 Actually, one of our backlogs is to deal with other tools like Feedly. It is the most valuable moment for us to find someone like you who got supported by our product. I hope to share more stories with you. Please feel free to contact me: jiwon.jang@additor.io. Cheers 🍻
Been looking for something straightforward annotating on web, and snap it right into notes taking, but with simple, intuitive and on-point UX, UI. Some draws comparison between Additor and Notion, but I find this is more similar to Microsoft OneNote, except Additor can highlight on web and way better, more beautiful UI.
Please don't pivot and give up on this. Can't believe it takes me a yr to find this product.
Btw, the app still loads slow and laggy at times, including the extension, but I guess this is still beta
This looks great! I have been using Candy so far https://www.producthunt.com/post... but they decided to do a rebranding (they are now Lumio) and changed the whole user interface change and kind it pivoted completely from what I was looking for. Additor seems that will cover the visual bookmark and organization needs.
@thejoaosantos Hello, João Santos. Please try Additor, and give us your thoughts on it. You are the one who has been already used some tools. It would really help us to evolve into another level. Thank you so much.
This is huge! Recently I was going crazy managing notes, folders and links with Pocket/Evernote/Notes with no collaborative projects and folders (big fail for them). Really great product, cheers! 🍻
I'd love a Safari extension.
*btw: this is my very first comment :)
@jiwon_nique_jang@raulmono Love the tool, but i use safari too. Can't switch browsers because of the continuity features that safari offers. Please consider safari for Additor :) thanks
@nicolaos_moubayed@raulmono Hello, Nicolaos. We're planning to make our extension app available on Safari and Firefox. Please wait for our expansion. Thanks.
Just downloaded, Super clean and well executed. I particularly love the 'ADD A PROJECT' feature and your one line description #baby 😁
Also, any plans to let people sync their projects to Drive?
btw, Great Work Additor team.
@jiwon_nique_jang after syncing it with drive we can keep backup or track of our every project that we made on Additor. Is it clear to you or should I explain you more?
@_ankitsingh Thank you so much, Ankit. There are lots of options to integrate with Additor, and Google Drive is one of them. We'll consider this, and let you know how it is going.
