@rrhoover have you sat in one ? If yes, have you used one all day? These chairs are akin to softly but with subtle firmness being slowly cradled in front of your desk by the Greek gods Aengus and Eutchia !
@rrhoover I bought a used one a few years ago from a office that was going out of business. I've never sat in a chair like this before. I will happily spend the money to get a new one. If you sit in a chair all day, your body will thank you if you sit in this chair. You have to try one out, it's simply wonderful!
@rrhoover I've had one for a decade and there's not a blemish on it. Considering the Bajillion hours I've spent comfortably working from it $780 is the deal of a century. Also, I think I paid about that much for it back then. So the price has barely budged. :)
When you consider promotional videos for apps and phones, there's always a kind of novelty expressed through sleekness, speed, or invention. How do you make a mundane object like a chair (remember this?) as interesting as one of these high tech experiences or devices? Herman Miller seems to be trying that with the new Aeron chair:

Design isn't just how it looks, but how it works. The Aeron, together with the Eames Lounge Chair and the Barcelona Chair are not only great designs, but Art.
I'm actually surprised Herman Miller is still able to command the prices it does for this chair. Is it great for most people's lumbar? yes. Is it well made? yes. That being said my $200 staples chair I got on sale for $120 works just as well at home as my Aeron in my office. Great value used and retains value if you keep in decent condition (i.e. Great for fail-fast startup!)
We had the Aerons at my old gig - by far the best chair I've ever had the pleasure to sit 40 hours a week in. Definitely starting a petition to get these in our new office !
I'd had mine from almost 10 years ago, and it's still going strong. I wouldn't call it the most comfortable chair ever, but at the time it was the best on the market. Not sure how it compares to things like the Embody and leap today
I have an old Aeron that was given to me. I want to love it. But it is fairly uncomfortable. I wish I could take it to Herman Miller to make sure there's not something wrong with it (or me) and test out this new version. Unfortunately, the nearest place that I've found is 5+ hours away :/
Have a used one that cost about half that. Easily the best office chair I've ever sat in. The salesman also pointed out that in addition to support for the back, the chair actually helps with blood flow to the legs. If this new chair is anywhere close to the legacy version, I'm sure it will be in high demand.
