It's terrific to see our new tool highlighted here by the community. Reporting is an interesting thing.
It would be easy to look at this new Aha! Visual Chart Tool and think that it was just another way to take any data and generate pretty bar and pie charts. To do so would miss the point.
Our customers are predominantly product managers. They are responsible for building great products and ultimately the future of their companies.
We introduced this capability because more than 30,000 product people and the world's best known software and technology companies use Aha! to build great products. And that means that they are using Aha! every day to set their business strategy, capture and prioritize customer ideas, create roadmaps, and work cross-functionally with their product teams.
Guess what -- that means that they enter a lot of data in Aha!
Also, by the very nature of their jobs, they are expected to work closely with customers and their colleagues and keep them informed as to their progress. If you are a product manager, you share a lot of data. And that brings us back to this new tool.
If you have all of your business and product plans in Aha! you should be able to create beautiful views of what is planned and highlight what the product development team has accomplished and easily share it. That was always my dream when I ran product. And now I and you can. You no longer need to use multiple applications and a bug system to manage product and then aggregate data in Excel to create reports.
You can see that this is not just a general charting tool -- it is a charting tool for product mangers and their teams. We hope you enjoy using it as much as we did adding it to Aha!
Happy roadmapping.
@_rsamuelson Thanks for the kind words. We do offer Aha! by the user, which means you can purchase just one seat. We also provide a heavily discounted plan for early stage companies too. You can contact us at support@aha.io for details. We only hire former product managers to work with customers and we respond to requests in typically about an hour.
Charts are a great tool for communicating information visually. And we know that a key responsibility for product managers is to create visual presentations that explain what they do and where their product is headed.
But the problem is that creating graphs and charts usually involves spending hours of time duplicating data and manipulating spreadsheets. So, we built exactly what we always wanted to easily manage and report on our own products.
There are many ways to customize charts, including different chart options such as: bar charts, line charts, area charts, and pie graphs. And to make your charts even more beautiful, you can customize chart visualizations with different colors, headers and labels.
We can’t wait for you to check out the new visual chart tool. Let us know what you think.
@optimizethis Sounds like you're using Aha! to build Aha--solving your own problems to enhance your own product works really well. How do you prioritize what to build next?
@dankaplan Exactly. In terms of feature prioritization, it always starts with having a strategy and thinking about your goals first before you try to manage your backlog. But on a more tactical level, we created Aha! Scorecards that allow teams to prioritize what to build next based on the metrics that matter most to them. You can use simple equations, advanced equations, or even the Fibonacci sequence (http://blog.aha.io/index.php/fea...), which many Agile teams find useful.
@dankaplan@optimizethis I think that Keith's idea is a good one and it is typically what we recommend for feature and user story prioritization. But it is worthwhile to expand on his point about having a strategy.
Obviously, having goals for a product (or any serious effort for that matter) must come first. And then you want a few strategic initiatives that you agree with the team will help you reach your goals.
This is why we have a detailed strategy module in Aha! [http://www.aha.io/product/featur...] and you can set goals and initiatives by product and then link them directly to your releases and features.
It sure makes it a lot easier to then prioritize what matters. And in an ideal world, the scorecard you set up for each product would also be tied to your initiatives, so each feature would automatically map back to what the team has agreed is most important.
We also use the Aha! idea management capabilities to capture what our customers really want. [You can see our own idea portal here: https://big.ideas.aha.io/?sort=p...] We then use the framework described above to decide what to build next.
This is super cool. The charts are fast, easy, and practical to use. I've been a big fan of Aha! for about the last year and product developments like this are the reason why. Keep up the great work!
@jon_cunningham Yes, we are definitely happy with how elegant and speedy the charts are.
And while it is clear to you, it might not be to everyone else, the charts make it possible to take all of your business strategy and product roadmap data and report on just about anything. There are well over 100 data objects you can report on -- and many more if you add custom fields to your business model, ideas, features, or releases.
I wish I had had this capability a few years ago when I spent about 20 hours every quarter preparing for quarterly business reviews and was expected to report on the progress of our roadmap and development efforts. it sure hurt when I had to take roadmap data out of a few applications and systems and try to summarize what was happening in Excel.
This chart tool definitely provides value breaking down everything we are doing into visual representations. It can be super helpful to find trends, whether good or bad, super easily. Great job Aha! team on your continuous commitment to refining a great app!
@tannerhearne Thanks for the feedback! We also included several template charts that make it easy to visualize your goals, initiatives, releases, features, and ideas.
@tannerhearne Kind words. Thanks. We have been humbled by the feedback and growth. There is so much more to do, but this was a great step to help smart PMs like you better visualize the data that you took time to enter into Aha!
@danrubins You are too kind. We are doing our best to keep doing what we do best -- delivering helpful new functionality every week and being as responsive as possible.
As a Product Director, I need to make sure our product development and roadmap contribute to our company vision. Aha! not just provide me with functions to plan out roadmap and feature release. I can also upload BMC and User's persona to our account to make sure every team member is align and have a clear understanding what our product vision is. The visual chart tool help us visualise better and when we have team meeting, it increase our productivity to have a quick overview of information so we can quickly go into discussion and save time explaining each section. A successful product person can clearly identify the needs of their target audience. And Aha! Team did a great job in that! Looking forward to more cool features, cheers!
@brianjking Thanks for the support. We offer a heavily discounted plan for early stage companies because we want everyone to be able to use Aha! You can contact us at support@aha.io for details. We only hire former product managers to work with customers and we respond to requests in typically about an hour.
