I was 21, a university student, when I got the idea to make an app that would let people know what they breathe. My city of Skopje was polluted x20 over EU limits, and x4 over Beijing. A simple, local mobile app for a few hundred citizens of N.Macedonia using data from 17 measuring stations. Little did I know that this will trigger protests of thousands of people and forced our government to implement greener policies (read more on our story here: https://getaircare.com/story/). 🌍 8 years later, with millions of downloads, hundreds of thousands of active users, 20+ awards including those from the United Nations, that little mobile app has gone global! AirCare now has data for any place around the world, and includes Pollen and UV information too! We worked super hard to source this data, using 🛰 satellites, 🏛 government and 🙋‍♀️ volunteer measuring stations (like ones from EPA, PurpleAir, Sensor Community and more). 🔥 Since wildfire season has now started in the US, it's crucial more than ever to track what you breathe, and using NASA data, we are able to show you fires that are ongoing all across the world. AirCare has some amazing new features, and we're planning even bigger things that are already in the works!
