Hello Product Hunt people! Alexander, Nitro creator here. Nitro began as a one-man project intended to solve the weekly “Please, someone, help us translate these 3 lines of text into 8 languages" problem. I was developing my apps and software, localizing them into different languages, and every new version was a pain in the butt to deliver: I was waiting constantly for my translators to send the texts back to me... I thought I might not be the only one with this problem, so I wrote version one of Nitro in Java and showed it to my fellow programmers. To my surprise, they liked Nitro and started to use it for translating their texts. Back then, I never imagined how amazing Nitro would become. But with users sharing their feedback, and thanks to our team of devoted translators and developers, Nitro has become an essential solution for professional translation. Not just for devs, but for everyone. We translate app updates, marketing copy, ads, sales emails, blog posts, newsletters, work instructions, and even love letters. Currently, we translate into more than 70 languages. And we’re adding more languages all the time. Nitro is backed by professional, native-speaking translators, support engineers, talented developers and managers. We deliver 60% of translations in just two hours. There are thousands of small texts translated through Nitro daily. Some of the texts come in and out through the API. I’ve been dreaming about launching Nitro on Product Hunt ever since the start of the project, and the day has finally come. It puts a huge smile on my face! I hope you’ll love Nitro as much as I do. Just remember: if you need translations, get in touch with Nitro. Make it your mantra: Translation – Nitro. Translation – Nitro. Translation – Nitro. 😉 Oh, by the way, make sure you watch the video above to meet me in person :) PS: I’ve got a special offer for you – a $15 coupon for Nitro which you can use to test our translation service. Use the code PRODUCTHUNT as a coupon code (valid till November 18). I would love to hear your feedback. I’ll be around all day to answer your questions. Thank you very much!
Margarita Shvetsova
@cctvdesigner Hi Max, thank you for much for your kind comment! We're thrilled to hear feedback from our Nitro clients! (usually we don't get to talk to clients a lot as Nitro works in a self-service mode, right?) It's wonderful to hear what you use Nitro for and it's rewarding to know it helps you with localization 🙏 Maybe we can talk and see if we can make a case study of it :) I am in charge of writing such case studies and I personally make sure they turn out not just to our benefit, but to the client's benefit as well. Please let me know if you are open to discuss it :)
Bertha Kgokong
Congratulations on your launch, I know you and your team have been working on this for a long time, glad to finally see it. My only question is, do you have an API for the translator?
Margarita Shvetsova
@berthakgokong Thank you very much for your support, Bertha! And thank you for checking out Nitro. No, there is no API for translators, only for Nitro's clients. I am curious, why would a translator need an API?
Bertha Kgokong
@margarita_s88 so you can do it programatically inside of an application, I send a POST request to your service and you return a translated version, after some time . . .
Margarita Shvetsova
@berthakgokong oh, I think I got you wrong! Yes, absolutely, you can send the request inside your our application and get the finished translation not logging into Nitro. Please check out the Nitro API documentation to know how to add it to your application: https://developer.nitro.alconost... And if you have any questions about implementing it, you can write to us in Nitro's live chat, and our tech specialist will help :)
Paval Shalamitski
@berthakgokong @margarita_s88 API for translator would be helpful as it will allow to work in common CAT tools on NItro orders.
Margarita Shvetsova
@yehekim Thank you Pavel for this idea! As a translator, would you find it more convenient if you could work on Nitro's orders in common CAT tools?
Margarita Shvetsova
Hey Product Hunt, We are excited about introducing Nitro! Our whole team have been working on this product for a long time, and we believe we've made a useful product which will help many companies looking to go global. There are some big plans for Nitro's future, so stay tuned! ;) Please let us know your feedback and questions! We'll be here all day to answer them. Thank you! PS: There has been a ton of preparations, and I personally failed some of them, like getting a great hunter - shoutout to @benln whom could have been a perfect hunter for Nitro, but... I guess my pitching skills suck, lol. I'll try to do better next time, Ben! :) until then, I hope you'll take a look at Nitro and let me know whether it was worth your time :)
Maria Batryn
@margarita_s88 Congratulation on the launch! Nice video promo and story behind your product 🙌 Would love to see it in action!
Margarita Shvetsova
@maria_batryn thank you Maria! So happy you liked it! When you get a chance, please give it a try and let me know what you think ;) just make sure you activate the coupon soon, as it will turn into pumpkin in 3 days ;) activation doesn't mean you have to use it right now, just add it to your Nitro balance.
Jenny Art
@maria_batryn Maria, thanks for paying attention to the video. It's really great when someone notices the results of the work you're involved in! 😍

Hello Product Hunt, I'm a Product manager at Nitro. We are very excited to share the results of our long-term efforts and ideas from each team member. Some of Nitro’s features were a success, others were a flop, but as a result we’ve made a product that solves the problem for people who need short or ad hoc translations into other languages. We’ve gone through many iterations and thoroughly designed the UI so that a new Nitro client could immediately understand how it works, easily create an order, and pick up the finished translations. It’s possible to send a text to be translated into multiple languages at once (be it 10, 20 or 50 languages), track the status of orders, exchange comments with the translators, and export the finished translations into Google Sheets. If you want to change something, we offer free revisions. It’s also possible to order and pick up translations through the API. We are very proud of Nitro’s simple and clean UI (please let me know if you share our opinion - or not! 😊) and hope you’ll find it a convenient tool for your product translations. Any feedback and questions will be greatly appreciated!

Do I get it right that I will see the price of translation right away? I don't have to wait for a quote, do I?
Margarita Shvetsova
@new_user_28581daf48387 That's right! In Nitro, you'll see an instant quote as soon as you've pasted the text and chosen the languages for translation.
Jenny Art
@new_user_28581daf48387 Thanks for the question! 🌟 The cost of a translation is based on the number of characters in the source text (including spaces, paragraph breaks, tabs, etc.), and as @margarita_s88 already said it is calculated automatically 🧮
Kieran
Hey, Nitro looks great, congrats! What do you mean by native speakers? Which language is native...the one they translate from? Or the one they translate into?
Margarita Shvetsova
@kjk1 thank you! :) Regarding your question - the one they translate into. So if we take a translation from English to Spanish, the translator will be a native speaker of Spanish, but they also have a near-native level of the source language (the one they translate from, in this example it is English).
Felicitas Hilge
Congrats on launching! Sounds like a very useful product. I really like how fast and easy you can place your orders. I also think setting the tone of your text is a very smart addition. Definitely gonna give Nitro a shot once we're working on adding more languages to our website.
Margarita Shvetsova
@felicitashilge thanks a lot for your support, Felicitas, means a lot to me ❤️ And thank you for checking out Nitro! The tone of voice is something we've added recently :) I will be very happy to see you among Nitro users! 🙌
Jenny Art
@felicitashilge Felicitas, thanks for sharing your feedback about our product! Hope you'll enjoy your experience with Nitro!! 🤩
Benny Lewis
Fascinating!! I do lots of multilingual work, but for very short texts. I've tried to work with multiple translators on sites like Upwork or hiring my own, but the workflow has never been large enough to make it sustainable. I've always wished a service like this existed! I see you also offer proofreading, which is great for someone like me who is multilingual, but wants to be sure quick tweets and such don't have small errors slip through. Looking forward to testing this out!!
Alexander Murauski
@irishpolyglot Thank you for your kind words, Benny. We'll be happy if Nitro suits your translation needs.
Margarita Shvetsova
@irishpolyglot OMG, Benny Lewis!!! It's such an honor for me personally to see your comment! 😍 I speak several languages (very modest compared to how many you can speak) and I found your website years ago, and it has been such an inspiration!.. "Speak from Day 1" 💪 We will be so happy if you enjoy using Nitro! I'm always there if you have a question or problem - in Nitro's live chat, just a click away 😉 Thanks again Benny for your comment - it means a lot! 😍🥳
Riya Handique
Hey Margarita! Finally huh? Congratulations on the launch 🙌
Margarita Shvetsova
@riya_handique2 hey Riya, indeed 😁 I've had a crazy weekend and a crazy morning haha. I'll tell you more about it later, things I didn't consider about launching a post (launched liked 10 mins later than I could just because of that). Thank you for your support! ❤️
Riya Handique
@margarita_s88 haha, I'm all ears when you're free to share 😄 Anyway, Nitro seems interesting. Would love to learn more about it later. Best wishes ♥
Margarita Shvetsova
@riya_handique2 thanks a lot Riya! Yes, I plan a whole article on this ;) it will be cool to answer your questions about Nitro if you have any ;)
Andrii Kpyto
Looks interesting, is Nitro only for text now?
Margarita Shvetsova
@kpyto thanks Andrew! Do you mean whether Nitro accepts files? If I got your question right, then I'll say it does not accept files at the moment, but we do plan to add this feature in the future :)
Jenny Art
@margarita_s88 Margarita means the near future :)
Dennis Crane
We've been using Nitro for years for UI strings localization into 10 languages. Very handy tool and responsive team.
Jenny Art
@dennis_crane Hi Dennis, we really appreciate your support!! 😍
Alexander Murauski
@dennis_crane Thank you for your support, Denis.
Margarita Shvetsova
@dennis_crane thanks so much for your comment, Dennis - it's so wonderful to hear from long-term clients! 😍 Your support means a lot to us 🙏
Kağan Korkmaz
Congrats on launch! Why should I use Nitro instead of Google Translate?
Alexander Murauski
@kagan_korkmaz1 Well, because Google Translate is a machine, but Nitro has professional translators behind it. Nitro is a paid service, where translators are always online and ready to translate texts into their languages. Quality is the difference. You can attach an image, give a comment to our text, and a translator will take those into consideration while translating.
Margarita Shvetsova
@kagan_korkmaz1 hi Kağan, thank you! Good question! I can say it depends on what you need a translation for. If you just need to understand the general meaning of a text, Google Translate is fine. But if you want to translate your text for a global audience, for clients who will pay for your service/product - a machine translation won't quite work. The problem is that with a machine translation the quality is sometimes okay, but sometimes it's not acceptable. People don't feel like using a product (and paying for it!) if they have a hard time reading the content. Besides, while machine translation has been improving over the years, it's quality is not stable. I remember having an article translated from English into Turkish (by a native speaker) and running the finished translation to make sure nothing has been missed and that I don't have any questions. Funnily, Google translate gave me the opposite meaning of what it really said. The text was the following: "(İşte bu nedenle,) oyun geliştiricileri için yerelleştirme sürecini olabildiğince baş ağrıtmayan bir iş haline getirebilmek adına, (tasarım sürecinin en başından itibaren uygulanabilecek bir takım kurallar içeren bu listeyi hazırladık.)" - Google Translate says "...in order to make the localization process as a headache as possible for game developers". The Turkish version actually means “less troublesome as much as possible, less of a headache as much as possible” but Google translate is telling you the opposite! Sorry I was too carried away talking about the machine translation stuff. The point is, if you need reliable translations - you need human translations :) We in Nitro provide exactly that - human translations exclusively. And we've made sure it's a convenient process: many devs translate a text into multiple languages at a time (sometimes as many as 20-30 languages) - and we made it easy: you just need to tick off the required languages, and hit the "Send for translation button".
Alex Davidovich
What’s the difference between Nitro and Smartcat?
Alexander Murauski
@alex_davidovich Not completely sure, but in SmartCAT you cannot simply paste your text and get it translated in 2 hours. You start with a question "What is the name of your company"... there. SmartCAT is feature-rich, professional translation management tool I could personally recommend (we use it at Alconost for some big localization projects). Nitro is for people who do not want to "manage files and projects", but rather think "get my text translated now, please" :) Hope this helps.
Natalia
Kudos on a great accomplishment, Nitro team! I like the video in the product description, great job! What I do like about the product which I have been using constantly is that I can leave comments for the translator, and they can reply. So we can have a kind of a thread attached to a task. I like when translators request clarifications, ask questions, or suggest a few options to translate a specific line, for me to choose from. One more thing that stands out for me is the level of involment of a human translator into your text and what you meant to transmit. This is what machines can't do for a moment (let me know if I'm wrong). Good luck!
Margarita Shvetsova
@natalia_est Hi Natalia, thank you very much for your support - a comment from a regular client means a lot! 🙌 I agree that ability to exchange comments with a translator is a very useful feature, often indispensable when the translator needs additional question. This feature saves time to resolve issues. We've only added it this year :) No, machine translation still has a long way to go to reach anywhere near a human level of involvement :)
Jenny Art
@natalia_est Natalia, thanks for highlighting the comment thread feature! We do believe that the client can influence the quality of the translation from their side by providing some additional clarifying information 🤓
Nishith from True Sparrow
@margarita_s88 congratulations on your launch! I like the proofreading service. It would be great to show how the difference between how a tool like Grammarly would do the proofreading vs an actual human.
Margarita Shvetsova
@nishith_shah thanks so much for your support, Nishith! 🙌 What a great idea! I'll think about how I can use it, an article or a video - but yeah, I think it will be very interesting, thank you for suggesting it :)
Arda Helvacılar
We tried more than 5 products for the localization needs of our projects however each and every one of them failed eventually. Nitro seems like the product that we have been looking for. So thank you and I wish you great luck!
Jenny Art
@helvacilar We'll be happy if you try out Nitro. We hope that it will meet your expectations! ☀️
Margarita Shvetsova
@helvacilar thank you for your comment, Arda! I would be happy to chat and see what challenges you faced with previous localization solutions and whether we can equip you with what you need 😊 Thanks again and hope to talk soon!
Kartik Punnamaraju
Congrats on the launch! I don't have a use case yet, but just curious, does nitro work best with technical documentation as opposed to say literature/short stories?
Margarita Shvetsova
@kartik_punnamaraju Hi Kartik, thank you for your comment! To be honest, Nitro is more oriented towards IT products rather than literature & stories. It is possible to translate some very short stories there, but generally literary works require more time and more context, so we usually recommend to translate such content in our localization department. As for technical documentation, I think it depends both on the volume of text and its complexity. Again, if it requires a lot of additional context, it will make more sense to translate it in localization platforms as we do at our localization department where we handle large projects. Nitro's best advantage is translating relatively short-length content on the go, in a self-service mode (where you don't need a localization manager to send a text for translation). Hope this answers your question, and also hope you'll try Nitro some time ;)
Nick Zaleski
The API feature is interesting. I was wondering if you can help implement it?
Margarita Shvetsova
@nick_zaleski Sure, we can help with that, just contact us in the Nitro's chat. You may also want to check out the API documentation here: But if you have questions about it, our tech specialist will help.
Margarita Shvetsova
@nick_zaleski for some reason I can't add the right link, but you can also find the documentation here: https://alconost.com/en/nitro/api
Denis Danilov
Congratulations on the launch, guys!🥳
Margarita Shvetsova
@danilov_den thanks Denis! I hope you'll give Nitro a try ;)
Jenny Art
@danilov_den Thanks Denis!! ✌☀️
Robert Johnson
Sounds cool.
Jenny Art
@robert_johnson13 Thank you Robert! Nitro combines up-to-date technologies and human touch, hope you'll enjoy the product!!
