Alfred 4.5 brings a new Powerpack feature: Universal Actions. Take any text, URLs or files and perform actions on them from anywhere within Alfred or on your Mac using your Universal Action hotkey.
If you want to maximize the utility of Universal Actions (presumably you already bought the Alfred Power Pack), I would suggest:
1. Download Hyperkey.
2. Remap your Caps Lock key to launch Alfred (by setting the hotkey to F19)
3. Set the Selection Hotkey for Universal Actions to ⇧-F19.
Now you have a super convenience way to 1) launch Alfred with one key and 2) access Universal Actions with a modifier.
Ok, but why? Because Universal Actions surfaces all kinds of hidden actions in Workflow to a unified list of options to make it easy to apply those actions to any files, folders, or other selections that you make within macOS.
There's an active forum topic about all the possible use cases... so it's only going to get more interesting from here!
@chrismessina Hello there.
one question.
When writing an article, capslook is needed to enlarge the first letter of the sentence.
There is a problem when the caps match with look alfred.
How do you resolve this situation?
Alfred is a delight to use, and quietly makes lots of things better. More than an "improved spotlight" and launcher, it has great clipboard features, and bundle of useful features like snippets and workflows that I have come to gradually but which make me more productive.
Now I have to learn universal actions, 😀.
I don’t know if it’s just me but this “universal features” I’ve been doing them since I download Alfred for the first time. Maybe I’m using some workflows that help me achieved those features but… I think I’ve been doing it
