Hello Product Hunt! I’m Yoshi, the co-founder/CEO of Alpaca. I’m excited to have @hnshah hunt this for us! Read on for more details… We’re excited to unveil Alpaca Broker API, an end-to-end brokerage experience via API. Broker API enables developers and startups, from across the world, to launch their own commission-free trading apps connecting to the US stock market(1), while Alpaca’s API handles the banking, security, and regulatory complexity. Sign up today and grab your API keys, to start building your own competitors to that investing unicorn!😆 -> https://alpaca.markets/broker _____ Alpaca Broker API Features: 🙌 Onboard, open, & manage individual user brokerage accounts 💸 Fund individual user accounts through our Plaid integration, wire transfers, or ACH transfers transfers 🔐 Leverage Alpaca’s KYC / CIP (Know Your Customer / Customer Identification Program) APIs to verify the identity of your customers 🔀 Journal cash or stocks between accounts to instantly fund user accounts or embed into your own growth strategies ✅ Enable trading functionality for your users, from long and short positions to fractional trading and complex order types, ex. bracket and limit orders 📥 Download trade confirmations and account statements required by local compliance laws 💰 Charge commissions(2) and manage them all in one place * see the Broker API Docs for full features -> https://alpaca.markets/docs/broker/ What can I use this for? --- Broker API is organized around REST, making it easy and intuitive to build on top of Alpaca’s infrastructure. Until now, integrating stock trading capabilities into an app was a tedious and linear process. Now, you can start building in a sandbox environment in parallel with becoming compliant with applicable rules and regulations. With Broker API, you are creating the ability for your users to invest in the stock market with as little as $1. This means that people from all over the world will be able to own portions of companies and ETFs that they would have otherwise not been able to access and invest in. We started offering our Broker API at the end of last year. With the help of our key partners, we have continued to develop and fine-tune our platform. Today, we’re thrilled to announce Gotrade (https://www.heygotrade.com/) and Midas (https://www.getmidas.com/) as our first Fintech partners (both registered broker-dealers in their respective jurisdictions) that built and launched their apps using Alpaca Broker API. How can I get it? --- From here https://alpaca.markets/broker, you can get your API keys and start building right away in our sandbox environment. You won’t have to worry about the live market, real money, and compliance until you’re ready. Once you’re ready to go live, our partnership team will guide you through the rest of the onboarding process. Wanna learn more? --- 💡Check out our blog post about Broker API https://alpaca.markets/blog/intr... 🔑Head over to our Broker API tutorials https://alpaca.markets/learn/tag... for more information on how to get started. 📚And of course check out the Broker API Docs! https://alpaca.markets/docs/broker/ Happy building! 🛠 --- 1) This is not an offer, solicitation of an offer, or advice to buy or sell securities, or open a brokerage account in any jurisdiction where Alpaca is not registered (Alpaca is registered only in the United States). 2) Subject to limitations and restrictions. Typically available only for registered broker-dealers.

Congrats on picking a hot business model for the trading vertical! What do you use to facilitate your internal KYCs?
Yoshi Yokokawa

@hnshah @yokokawa244 Great job! Congratulations! Does this eliminate the initial invite only requirement for algo traders outside the US who want to switch to live trading account?
Kumar Thangudu
Love this. Democratizing the ability to build online brokerage apps for the ~30M software developers on the planet.
Yoshi Yokokawa
@datarade we will keep the API as developer friendly and flexible as possible as our first priority!
Kumar Thangudu
I've used the Alpaca API to trade stocks. Has saved me beaucoups of time. My team and I have been building a product with this API, excited to launch it with Alpaca!

Anatoly Corp
Hi, great idea! 1) How do you work with other companies in terms of the contract, payment? 2) Can you tell us limits when we compare my personal app+your api with Robinhood from the user perspective? Thanks!
Sagar Patil
This is revolutionary. Only last week I was looking for a way to buy US stocks from India and couldn't find anything good. I've signed up through GoTrade. Congratulations on the launch. This changes everything.
Yoshi Yokokawa
@sagarpatil thank you so much! Gotrade is great, and it is great that it works well for you in India as well!!
Wael Khattar
Sounds awesome, would you onboard traders from the Middle East? (Mainly UAE, Saudi, Jordan)
Yoshi Yokokawa
@wael_khattar1 we are working w/ entrepreneurs pretty much across the globe including the region!!
Wael Khattar
@yokokawa244 That's great, I'll test the product and if it works as I think it does we'll be referring a lot of startups in the region and globally to use Alpaca
Yoshi Yokokawa
@wael_khattar1 appreciate it! I hope that lots of founders found this useful to kick of their projects!!
Umair Ashraf
Congrats! I was looking for something like this just recently. Thank you. Quick question why would I use Fully-Disclosed Broker-Dealer if I can use Non-Disclosed Broker-Dealer?
Ivanna Wendel
Great product with beautiful design
Yoshi Yokokawa
@ivanna_wendel Thank you Ivanna, we will keep building!!

You're right. Nice product. I've been using this app for two weeks already and it has a very nice interface. I like using trading apps to watch everything that happens on the markets live. It's quite practical and gives you enough knowledge to understand trading properly. For example, I like using forextb.com trading platform to follow the current situation on the forex market. It helps to understand when I should buy or sell the particular currency. P.S. Never buy crypto!
tobias heaslip
Do you need your own brokerage license to use this product? Or can we build an app that utilizes both Alpaca's tech and their brokerage license?
Yoshi Yokokawa
@tobias_heaslip great question, you don't need a broker license to user the Broker API, we handle the work behind the scene :)
tobias heaslip
@yokokawa244 Thanks Yoshi. A lot of people have been trying to connect us. We're building something special and I'm super interested in this API integration with our platform. Can you e-mail me (tobias@trading.tv) to setup a time to discuss or put me in touch with an sales engineer?
Benjamin Umeh
Congratulations! Does this eliminate the initial invite only requirement for algo traders outside the US who want to switch to live trading account?
Yoshi Yokokawa
@benjamin_umeh this Broker API doesn't solve that yet, but we will be making the update on the front soon :)
Luke Moberly
Congrats on the fantastic launch! Is it possible for a simple trading/investing app to use the Brokerage API (e.g. a company that isn't an RIA or BD)? I saw that the documentation says there is support for these non-financial institutions, but I was curious how that worked. Would Alpaca handle the entire CIP/KYC/AML process?
Pythagoras
I love alpaca, but isn't this the second time in a short while it's been posted?
Yoshi Yokokawa

Yoshi Yokokawa

Shun Kakinoki
