An active life social network that prioritizes close connections. Build your Active Club with up to 100 friends and support each other in a positive, inclusive environment. Privacy-focused, customizable, and compatible with popular fitness apps.
Hi everyone, I'm Luke Beard, CEO of Any Distance!
It's a big day for us. We're excited to introduce our 4.0 update, Active Clubs, designed to empower and support individuals on their active life journey while fostering a close-knit community of like-minded friends.
We believe in a fitness app that promotes inclusivity, privacy, and personal growth, and we've built Any Distance with those values in mind.
Our mission is to help people lead healthier, happier lives by embracing various activities and lifestyles. With features like Weekly Participation and Collectibles, we aim to motivate users and celebrate their achievements in a supportive, non-judgmental space.
Think of it as mashup of some of the best parts of Strava, BeReal and Path (RIP).
With that in mind, the privacy and safety of our communities data extremely seriously. This principle is ingrained in our company culture and influences every decision we make. We firmly believe that personal data should never be exploited for political or personal gain, and we commit to never handing over sensitive information to law enforcement unless legally required.
Our focus is on storing as little data as possible while still providing an excellent user experience. We will never store data that isn't necessary for the app's functionality. For more information on our approach to privacy, please check our Privacy Commitment (anyd.ist/commitment).
Active Clubs has been super well-received in early testing, showing that small groups of friends can indeed motivate each other to be more active and document their journey creatively. We are stoked to get this to more people.
We've built this chapter of Any Distance on the foundation of research that highlights the alarming trends in sedentary lifestyles, poor health, and declining life expectancy:
→ US adults are sedentary for 9.5 hrs/day, the majority of which is spent sitting.
→ By 2030, nearly 50% of US adults are projected to be obese.
→ At the current rate, ~500M people will develop heart disease, obesity, diabetes, or other noncommunicable diseases this decade.
→ Physical activity is 1.5 times more effective than counseling or medications in treating depression.
→ Exercise has beneficial effects across all clinical populations, with the greatest impact on those with major depressive disorder and those undergoing supervised exercise.
→ Life expectancy in the US has experienced a significant decline since 2020, partly due to increasingly sedentary lifestyles.
Please give 4.0 a try, and let us know your thoughts. We're very open to feedback and questions, as your input is invaluable in helping us create the best active life social network for everyone. Thank you for considering Any Distance, and welcome to the Active Club! #anydistancecounts

@lukesbeard Congratulations on the launch! I have been on board with the Beta for a while, and I really like this app. It's style is clean and very appealing. I would recommend this app to anyone looking to track their workouts.
You're one of the best product builders I know @lukesbeard, this looks exceptional. App is updated & I'll be taking it for a proper spin today or tomorrow 💫
Any Distance user and fan here! I've been using the app to generate images of my runs to post on social media. Active Clubs is just the logical conclusion of that type of behavior. Constantly impressed by the AD team and their attention to detail, ability to intuit what users want, and courage to introduce new design idioms. A++ would use again!
Beautiful work team! Love using AD. Keeping my data private is key. I love being able to share my workouts and activities without sharing my location to everyone. I have to give credit to AD for helping me get back into running. Opening it helps me reflect on the joy of running, personal growth, and community. Not, competitive pressure. It's so great!
Stellar update - Luke and team have the special combination of excellent design, privacy and encouragement.
This app, and this company, are worth following closely!
Absolutely love this update and as a Any Distance Club fanboy I can’t do anything less than support this launch. Loving the update, and the mission. Go team go.
I just downloaded the app. It looks AMAZING! Congrats! The onboarding was smooth. Lots of request to access my data so I appreciate all the info about how you’re capturing as little as possible and privacy policy.
Question. How does the app make money for you? I see there are in-app purchases but thus far I haven’t seen anything to purchase in the app. Is it the collectibles?
@vcolinau Thanks! We have plans for a subscription for training and progress tools as well as many commercializations with Collectibles. Lot's of ways to build a sustainable business here but first its a focus on user base and finding the right fit. If you have any more questions, please let me know!
Seriously one of the most impressively executed apps on the design side. The pace of development and community-focused approach has been incredible to watch. Excited to see the launch of Active Clubs and see where this fresh take on activity tracking goes!
Been using the beta for a couple weeks now and I love this app. I’m not always the most fitness oriented but being able to see my friends and have an amazing (and fun) app experience is everything.
All my friends are on it now, thank you!! Can’t wait to see what you do next.
Any Distance has become one of my favorite apps to use when tracking my running, walking and snowboarding. Sharing an animation of an entire day of snowboarding tracked over a photo of the mountain I was at, has been super fun to do with family and friends. Now having a club with the friends I ride or run with the most is going to be awesome!
I've been using this app for awhile including beta testing... The vision for the app is amazing and I think the sky is the limit. The app itself is one of the only reasons I keep using my old iPhone actually (no android support yet) and I'm constantly in awe of the design, UI and UX. Definitely an inspiration all around when it comes to that. Also they've got fantastic merch!
Social is dead. Long live social. 👏🏼
Acquaintance social (FB & IG) is done… tight-knit, human-first, healthy social like Any Distance is here to stay & I’m all for it. 🚀
I've been testing 4.0 for weeks and it’s *so* refreshing. Bravo @lukesbeard + team.
i use anydistance every day! the apple watch app is awesome + everything in the app is designed so thoughtfully for fun and exploration! i'm actually wearing the "stupid little walk" shirt to work today ha!
