I've been using Default Folder for years, it's one of the best enhancements available for Mac OS. Unfortunately it's not quite ready for El Capitan (without deactivating SIP), but will be entering public beta soon according to developer. Surprised it hasn't been purchased by Apple and incorporated into the system!
