After watching this, I can't imagine how anyone will be able, with a straight face, to claim that climate change is a hoax. Watching ~40 years of satellite imagery as a timelapse on Google Earth makes it undeniable. It's like we're termites.

@chrismessina Wow, this is really interesting. It's amusing to look at your own city and remember certain things. And yes, the climate change is really not to be dismissed, just if you look at the rainforests including palm oil plantations. But it is also exciting for fast growing cities / countries like Singapore or Dubai. Thanks a lot Chris! edit 1: mmm time to load the screens is way too much and I have a 500Mbits connection...

@chrismessina This is by far one of the best launches from Google in recent times. It's simple and makes climate change awareness more accessible for everyone.

No need to go that far back to realize planet earth didn't get a good deal with humans. Amazing work from the Google Earth team!

Did the update come to the VR version as well? The Earth VR experience is incredible and experiencing this new feature in VR would probably be quite impactful for anyone using it.

I teared up when I saw the development in the Amazons. Is like being witness of so many unique lifeforms dissapear in front of your eyes... and it continues.

This is phenomenal. You cannot look at this and fail to understand the realities of climate change.

Doomclock for map geeks. Watch it using 5g and eating a Whopper and you just drowned another atoll.

Looks great. That's much more stabilized and interesting than some prior versions I have seen.
