Aurora is a meditative website where you can look outside of a train window, observe the seasons and days pass by, and draw auroras in the sky. In a time when a lot of things on our devices stress us out, Aurora is meant to be something you can use to relax.

The winter vibes are wonderful. And just drawing around on it sounds surprisingly nice! I'm curious what's the theory behind the layers of music with user drawing?
Shri Khalpada
@robmoore Thanks! Musically what's going is pretty simple. I recorded the backing track, which is just switching between the same two chords (C and F). The user drawing triggers a note at some regular cadence as the cursor is being dragged. The note played depends on the coordinates of the cursor. So it's almost like a 2D theremin. Hi! I built Aurora in March of 2022. The truth of it is that I just felt pretty overwhelmed with life at the time, and it was clear that my relationship with technology wasn't always helping. My goal was to try to build something meditative that I could use when I felt this way. Something that took advantage of the fact that I always had a device with me. Something where, if I was feeling a little frazzled, I could just pull out my laptop or phone and immerse myself in an experience that is sensory, tactile, and hopefully delightful for a few minutes. I wrote more about the process of building Aurora, and how it went viral on Reddit, here: https://medium.com/@shri.khalpad.... Thanks for checking it out!

Honestly the music made me feel so nice inside - this is actually pretty cool and love projects like this, weird suggestion but getting this on wallpaper engine or into dynamic wallpaper probably isn't a bad idea if possible ;)
Shri Khalpada
@jwaf_ Thank you for the kind words! That suggestion makes a lot of sense. I've never messed with wallpaper engine before, but I'll add it to my backlog of things to look into when I get some time. Cheers!
