As a gamer, I think this is incredible. How has PlayStation or XBox or gaming companies not partnered with you to create avatars for their games. This should be the new standard for creating avatars in games: optionally link your facebook or twitter profile image and create an avatar in your likeness in a few seconds. No brainer.
"We are team of computer vision enthusiasts on a mission to allow anyone look and feel as themselves in a virtual world. By combining hardcore computer vision, deep learning and computer graphics, we've developed a state-of-the- art pipeline - Avatar SDK - that turns 2D photos into unbelievably realistic virtual humans in just a few seconds!"
Very creepy (in a good way)! I tried the online demo, using my own photo. Although I have no use for this, I thought it was pretty fun and was surprised by the results. The facial mapping/wrapping and texturing are done really well... I don't know if the demo has all features, but it's missing the option to add accessories like glasses, and more hair options.
@tostartafire Hi, thanks for the feedback! We are working to add more hairstyles, 30 more coming in May, followed by other facial features. Also, we have a new avatar generation method available in avatarsdk.com that can reconstruct person's hairstyle, making an avatar even more recognizable! We need to add it to the online demo!
Hi @victor_eruhimov, @svetlana_golubeva any plans for full character customization, props market for Unity, Unreal, to create unified 3d avatars across the games
Hi @gorelics, we will be rolling out more facial customizations (hairstyles -- coming soon!, beards, eyeglasses and other stylizations). As for full body support in the http api, we have a process for supporting customer full bodies, including skin color correction and making an invisible neck stitch line. We have plans for supporting full body models in Unity.
@victor_eruhimov, for gambling industry, especially VR casino it will be a turning point, users can customize their avatars and use them in different games, cards, billiards, roulette etc. Something like Daz3d but bundled and ready to download by apps that uses this tech. Gravatar for 3d world.
Hi Hunters! I am one of co-founders and CEO of itSeez3D, the company behind Avatar SDK. Thanks @gorelics for hunting us! Very excited to share what we have done!
We want to reinvent virtual communication, and we started with one of the most difficult problems: avatar generation. Avatar SDK can create an animated recognizable avatar from just one selfie photo! We (as well as our customers) believe this opens a lot of opportunities for multiplayer games, mobile apps, AR and VR!
Our killer features are:
- recognizable avatar from a single selfie
- blendshape-based animations
- Hairstyle selection
- Fast compute time (under 5s in the cloud, and under 10s on a Samsung S7)
Those who register at http://avatarsdk.com will also get access to experimental features, including our 'head' pipeline that reconstructs person's hairstyle (including long hair) and bust!
We are really excited to show Avatar SDK to the hunters community and would love to hear your feedback!
Wow, this is the thing I'm truly expecting from the game. Just hope the picture can be generated based on more than one picture, such as use one from the front and one from the side to make the avatar more precise :D
I just tried out this product for the first time today, it was amazing. but unfortunately i could not get the offline version to work even though it authenticated, it always fails. I really want to use this for learning and personal projects, nothing commercial, but i could not get the offline version to work, what a shame. It's price is also pretty steep for just personal use.
@devon_devo_frohne thanks for the feedback! What do you think makes it creepy for you? We have a new avatar generation pipeline available at avatarsdk.com that can reconstruct person's native hairstyle (even from the back!), and looks way more recognizable. :-)
