I like the UI/UX and human touch. But while changing currency I am not able to scroll the currency drop down. I am using chrome Version 67.0.3396.99 (Official Build) (64-bit).
Anton Tyulenev
@mhrnik Hi! Thanks for your feedback! About currency bug, thanks for mentioning that, can you also drop a screenshot if possible to anton@avionero.com? Also are you using Mac or PC?
Emelie Fågelstedt

Been following these guys since their launch in Sweden earlier this year - exciting to see them now hit the global market!

Pros:

Flexible, easy to use, great open date search function, fun new approach to travel search

Cons:

As a user, getting used to a new way of travel search - then again, it's needed :)

Anton Tyulenev
Hi Emelie! Thanks a lot for your support and feedback! :) Yes, it's a challenging task sometimes to break old habits, but we hope it's worth it so we can really help you to find flights easier!
Anton Tyulenev
Hey guys! Anton here, Avionero co-founder and product designer. We are really excited to present the project of our life and passion: Avionero 🎉 Personally, I’ve been travelling a lot during the past years and I was always wondering: why do most of the current flight search sites work the same way? They allow you to search only when you provide specific dates & destination, occasionally provide outdated prices and push you to purchase with so many ads and dark patterns. I’ve always wanted to do something about it. Together with Lars we strive to create a truly new flight search experience which will work the way you need it, not the way it was built for years. Some of the cool features we've been working so far: 📆 Have flexibility in dates? Select date ranges or specify a trip period 🌍 Search for a whole country, not only cities and airports 📉 Not sure when to travel? Check route details with monthly/weekly prices 🏖 Not sure where to go? Explore our suggestions ✈️ Keep all your searches in one place using tabs 🔍 No Search button for a smoother exploration experience 🔮 Vote on what country we will open up next! Our main difference: live prices on flexible travel parameters. While other sites (like Kayak for example) are making a decent job, you still need to pick specific destination and dates until you see the actual prices & flight options. While you can still see some prices on a nice map, these prices are cached – which means they could dramatically change when you perform an actual search. Thanks to our AI search engine, Avionero always show you live prices and flight options. We really appreciate all feedback and input, we make this product for you at the first place! Cheers! P.S. We have a very small easter egg onsite for Product Hunters. Can you spot it? :)
Peter Dziedzicz
Fast, easy to use. I love it!
Anton Tyulenev
@pdziedzicz Thanks, Peter! Do you often have flexibility in your travel plans? If yes, how do you approach it?
Elena Goldgerg
Glad to see you guys did it! Well done. There is still a long way to go based on users feedback, but the results are really promising. My comments are the following: As a user, I want to: * find tickets faster (the loading time is pretty disappointing); * book a ticket via clear CTA on search results (currently it takes a few minutes while I release how to pick up a ticket and how many steps are involved); * see affordable tickets first (it's a known fact for online travel agencies unless you focus on business travelers); * see one approximate price and not a range/interval of prices so that I can concentrate and focus; * have an option to switch on "white theme" because my eyes are getting tired from sparkling black one. I could continue more and more. But these things are super crucial for me when I look for a ticket. Good luck!
Anton Tyulenev
@lena_khokhrina Hi Lena! Super-useful feedback, thanks! - Search speed, that's our top priority. There's a lot of things involved in solving that one, but we are making small steps toward winning every millisecond :) - "book a ticket via clear CTA", you mean "select" button which we have right now? - "see affordable tickets first", yes, we are experimenting towards this one. The thing is that we try to propose not the cheapest (it's easy), but the best ticket, which could cost additional $10 but be 10 times more convenient. - "see one approximate price", that's an interesting one, because there's no "cheapest price" exist (Lars can elaborate on that one ;)), but I agree that sometimes you just need a single point to make a judgement. - "white theme", we are actually getting mixed responses on this one. Some people love it, it's very different from other sites and make all the graphics stand out, be more bright. But some people do complain about dark theme. We're exploring this one. Thanks again for a detailed feedback!
Elena Goldgerg
@lards >> "book a ticket via clear CTA", you mean "select" button which we have right now? Yep. Alt versions "Book now", "Book". Maybe I didn't recognize "Select" quickly because it's grey :)
Lee Qixian
This looks AMAZING. I was searching exact travel periods and I totally missed the point. The flexible period was the crucial feature that sets this apart, giving all the stats and data to the cheapest flights. This is really useful!
Anton Tyulenev
@swiftpolar thanks, Lee! Also try trip period, where you could select a period when you can possibly travel and for how many days you want to be away :)
Steve Wu
This is an awesome idea and super impressive for a product still in Beta. A lot of my friends use Scott's Cheap Flights to find deals but I love your application of technology to provide better results in addition to valuable, data-driven insights. An automatic-Scott's Cheap Flights-esque notification service that links to the actual flights would be incredible :) I'm curious though, why do you think other travel companies (with ample capital and talent) have avoided building these types of features? Seems crazy to think nobody at Kayak or Expedia has ever suggested flexible departure and arrival dates, or searching by an entire country, etc.
Lars Kristensson
Hi Steve, Yes, that is an interesting question. As you may read above (or about in our blog: https://avionero.com/blog/post/t...), I've been at several companies in the industry - trying to raise these limitations in how all sites are built today. There is a combination of reasons to why other companies haven't taken up on this in a satisfying way, and one of the main one is technological limitations. The search technology behind almost all flight price comparison sites today is very simplistic and straight forward. Sure, there are modern caching techniques, etc. but the core search technology is all the same. So whenever I've been suggesting these more open and flexible - in essence more human - ways of searching, I've always been met with "It's impossible". So to overcome that I sat down and draw out a whole new type of search technology, that instead makes use of modern AI and Information Retrieval theory. I then met Anton, who could turn the power of that search technology into a stunning and easy to use interface. ... and that's what became Avionero. :) PS. We are already sketching on an automatic flight price tracking feature. ;)
Yasmine Morrison

I book most of my flight tickets with Avionero and always getting the best deal! #winning

Pros:

It does really find the best and cheapest flights!

Cons:

More features please! Sometimes it can be a little bit slow.

Anton Tyulenev
Hi Yasmine, thanks for the feedback! Yes, the site could be slow, it's something we're fighting with since beginning and it's improving, slowly, but improving :) We also have a looot of features ahead: multi-route, better filtering, weather forecasts, etc.
Dmitry Belyaev

I love that you enter this challenge of building flight search service competing with all those big players. Good luck, Avionero!

Pros:

Tabs feature is amazing and it‘s so easy to use the service. I like it a lot!

Cons:

None

Anton Tyulenev
Thanks Dmitry, appreciate your feedback a lot! Yes, tabs seems to be a small thing by loved by so many people :) We're definitely going to explore that feature more!
Vic

Will be using this to search for cheaper flights, I've been using Skyscanner which doesn't store previous searches in session for me to go back to.

Pros:

Great UI/UX, smooth singe page app, saves previous searches

Cons:

None

Anni Tjebbes

I love the tab feature, and being able to search more flexible. Also great personalized destination suggestions.

Can't really see any cons so far.

Anton Tyulenev
Thanks Anni! Really glad you are enjoying destination suggestions, we've put a lot of efforts into picking the right photos which will show destination soul and vibe.
Lars Kristensson
Hi everyone, Getting to this point has been a long journey for me. When I started as an architect in the flight search industry back in 2008, I immediately felt there was something wrong with how they - and everyone else - was doing flight searches. Coming from a game-AI background, with a special interest in human behavior, I just seemed to have a different perspective. I’ve then spent the last 10 years trying to find better, more human and intuitive, ways to solve this seemingly unsolved problem. Out of these I spent 2½ year as architect at momondo, which gave me a good opportunity to explore many of my ideas deeper - as they had a solid amount of searches and data to work with. Soon after that I met Anton, who not only had the same thoughts and ideas, but also the talent to take on the UX challenges. The final result of all of this is Avionero! … and we have just started - there is so much more to come!
Tabish Gilani
Bless, Southwest prices are shown! 😂 Haha, this is a great tool. I can foresee this being extremely useful as a chrome extension! Keep up the good work, @lars_kristensson @lards
Anton Tyulenev
@tabish_gilani thanks a lot for your support, Tabish!
Alberto Caeiro de Pessoa
It is very helpful how can you select flexible dates, I can mark a range of dates in the calendar and it will search in this range. I also like the feature that allows you to search fly tickets for an entire country. Very beautiful Inspirational pages by the way.
Anton Tyulenev
@alberto_caeiro_de_pessoa Thank you, Alberto!
Roman Kirichenko
Nice project! Like the design and flexible dates feature. Do you plan to use map more? Now it’s kind of empty with only few dots.
Anton Tyulenev
@roman_kirichenko Thanks for your feedback, Roman! Yes, the map is not used fully right now, we are planning to show not only cities dots, but also add an information about prices & flight durations. Also we want to use a map as another entry point for a traveller to pick his desired destination. But how did you use our flexible search? :)
Ekaterina Logishkova

Good luck

Pros:

Great product. I like flexible dates, possibility to setup date ranges, type of travel feature.

Cons:

Looking forward to have complicated routes feature.

Mihai Mangu
Hello. How is AI involved in this product? I'm a developer, and from what I see in here, it's just a matter of crawling and displaying the best results for the user. I hope I'm wrong.
Anton Tyulenev
@mihai_mangu Hi Mihai! Thanks for your question, missed it somehow :) If we speak about looking for a best flight in a scope of thousands of combinations ("from New York to France in August for a week"), it's not just a matter of crawling all the options, it's simply not possible. So here how our AI takes part: first it determines what to search, based on user persona & requirements, and then it defines what to present and then it decides what to present after that, analysing your activity. @lars_kristensson could speak much more about it, he was working with AI in gaming :)
Lars Kristensson
@mihai_mangu Yes, as Anton is saying, we are searching a space of possible options that are prohibitively large to go through exhaustively, by magnitudes. So what we do is that we are tying to find the options in this huge space that are most likely to fit your particular preferences, in a kind of hierarchical manner using multiple phases of both predictive analytics and set theory.
