Data quality is no longer a dream, it’s a workflow. In record time, Avo Inspector extracts your event schemas to let you build a tracking plan and systematically fix your data, one resolved issue at a time.
Hi Product Hunt! 👋
I’m Stef. Long-time (recovering) data practitioner and CEO at Avo. Today, together with my Co-Founder, Sölvi ( @logason ) we’re launching Avo Inspector to spark a message of hope with the data teams of the world!
Working with data is tough. If you’re involved with shipping analytics for a fast-evolving product, you know what I’m talking about. Governing data in an environment where data structures are constantly changing is nearly impossible. It leads to a huge mess and a vicious cycle of patching up broken data. It goes something like this:
- You desperately want a design system for your data, because every analytics release is creating more mess.
- But you can’t build a design system, because your messy data doesn’t fit into any kind of system…
- And on it goes...
That’s why we’re so excited to share Avo Inspector. With Avo Inspector, it’s finally possible to find and fix your data quality issues in minutes, not months. For many of us, this is a very personal (and triggering 😅) journey, because we’ve seen (and been part of) many data teams where we would have loved to have a solution like Avo. The alternative is a nightmare that involves months, years or an indefinite cycle of chasing our tails with ad-hoc solutions. These often started as a “quick SQL query” but always ended up spiraling into monstrous never-ending data quality projects. *Shudders*.
But those days are- thankfully - over. We’ve built Inspector to rescue us from the data mess, l Avo’s lovingly designed solution engineered for data practitioners, so they can:
✅ Find the most critical data quality issues, and stay alert to them
✅ Collaborate with your team on a fix
✅ Mark the issue as resolved for now, and be notified later if the issue regresses
✅ Or set them to ignored and move onto more pressing matters
Seeing all your data quality issues in one place, and building a baseline to better data is an achievement in itself. Inspector makes this happen by extracting your event schemas to let you build a tracking plan in under 89 seconds. From there, you have a detailed view of every possible inconsistency with your data design.
But observability is just the first step. It’s time to move into action mode—systematically triaging and resolving issues to get you to better data, faster. This is possible through Inspector’s collaborative workflow, where you can resolve issues, leave comments, and set up custom Slack alerts to monitor your most important issues.
We cannot wait for you to try out Inspector and get started on your journey to better data. The best part is that it runs natively in your CDP, and can be up and running and loading your events faster than you can make your morning coffee.
Try it out today:
Try Avo Inspector today if you’re a data practitioner who wants to start the journey to better data. It only takes a few minutes.
1. Head to www.avo.app
2. Create your workspace, or feel free to try out our Sandbox (https://www.avo.app/sandbox)
3. Follow the steps to install Inspector (it takes less than 89 seconds!)
Please enjoy, and let us know what you think. ♥️

Congrats on the launch! This was such a huge problem that teams faced when I was at Amplitude. The customers I talked with who had Avo implemented were always steps ahead of others when it came to having good data for analysis.
What a killer release! We see a lot of customer data at Segment ... which means we see a lotttt of data quality problems. I've seen teams devote entire _humans_ 🙀 just to find their bad data. The world needs easier ways to find and fix data problems in real-time! Love this new Inspector (and integration with us!) to bring us closer to that goal, fixing one poorly-named-property at a time 🔥
@guttenbergm music to my ears, Marshall! 🥹 Can't wait to continue making more Avo and Segment customers happy!
If anyone's reading this comment and wants to try this out: head to Segment, look for Avo and plug and play babyyyyy
This is supremely cool! 📊
Having big debates on where to go, and what to build, when there isn't trust in the data is costly- and it's even more expensive to end up build the wrong thing. Often though, you just have to pull the trigger because it will be impossible to wait for a fix 😬
Big kudos to the entire Avo team for helping make product development more informed! 🙌
@haukursteinn Nicely worded!
Data bugs are so expensive if they go unnoticed, you might be making decisions based on the wrong data, which has led a whole development team to build the wrong thing! ❌
And its a cost that you realise after it happens, which can make or break companies 😬
@haukursteinn Thank you for sharing, Haukur 🥹 Avo exists to inspire better data cultures so teams can build better user experiences, so that journey is exactly what we want to help with <3
(A personal side mission: a world with fewer miserable data scientists 🙃)
As a long-time user, I've been consistently impressed with Avo's commitment to enhancing data quality and streamlining analytics workflows. The launch of Avo Inspector is a testament to the team's innovation and hard work, making it a go-to tool for efficient and accurate data handling. Great job, Avo team – you're truly revolutionizing how we approach data!"
Avo is truly an incredible tool for making sense of your data tracking and ensuring good hygiene with the way analytics are managed at scale. Hats off to @stefaniabje and @logason for the launch!
The new Segment destination for Avo Inspector is awesome! We got it hooked up in 3 minutes and immediately found a few critcal, easy-to-fix issues. Highly recommended
@varun_sharma4 🥹 Thank you Varun! I appreciate it! And throwback to all our moments together when I got to work with the best customer success genius ever when you were at Amplitude and I at QuizUp 💃
I've been using Avo for the last 6 years - it's fantastic for data-driven product teams!
My favorite Avo feature is building events through the Metrics section, it makes coming up with a solid tracking plan a breeze.
Looking forward to using the Inspector feature - Congrats on the launch team Avo!
Love that your doing metrics first data-design in Avo @gunnar_holmsteinn1. Definitely an experience that has a lot of opportunities for improvements, but helps a lot with the thought process.

Congratulations, @stefaniabje, @logason, and the rest of the Avo team, on today's launch! Avo Inspector has been a game changer for us, alerting us when we have data issues in dev or staging and virtually eliminating data quality issues from making it into production. Data quality has gone from a problem that keeps me up at night to something I barely have to think about!
