Hey Hunters and Makers!
I've been struggling with learning several new languages over the past years. Getting someone to talk to me in Swedish is a chore and finding time to practice with my buddy from Mexico was daunghting, so I started using ChatGPT to practice, starting with simple phrases and then onto having full blown conversations. Still learning though 😅
Then it hit me: "I can organize this method of learning and make it available to others".
So now it's super simple to get started, select the language you want to learn, create a virtual teacher with whom you can talk whenever without any judgement and start talking. They even will poke you to practice a bit if you forget. Using it myself daily, so
Been following Product Hunt for years now, thought would be cool to try to release something myself

Looks quite interesting,
I too have been using Chatgpt and Gemini to learn French. So I'm a little aware of how helpful these tools can be!
However, what I don't get is what exactly babyl offers.
Are there specific features or embedded prompts that an average user may not be aware of? Do you plan to add something in the near future? Maybe, a sort of test to system to track your progress as you improve?
I'm sorry if something like that is there already.
I was not able to spot anything on your website, at least.

Glad you liked it and thanks for the pointers. Some features built a-top are specialized promts and customized email reminders based on what you've been practicing with. I've also got some feedback about making a mobile app out of this.
My whole approach here is not to incentivize through the gamification, but instead keep it as personal as it can be with your AI teacher periodically pinging you as if your friend would. To keep the convo going naturally and without dopamine-ey distractions.
Test system is actually a really interesting thing to approach from this standpoint. Right now I'm working on something resembling that, called milestones, with smaller roster of languages and some instructors I'm working with. It's a roadmap that will help guide both you and AI to actually achieve understanding of the language you learb step by step increasing in dificulty but interconnected to eachother for smoother learning curve
All in all, this is a pretty early product and there's room to grow :)
