This is great! I developed http://jmitch.com/serenity specifically to mute Skype and Slack notification sounds when I do VOIP calls. This takes that one step further. Very cool.
How to install:
1) Press the "Download Zip" button on the left upper corner in Github.
2) Unzip the files.
3) Move the files to the Desktop.
4) Open Terminal.
5) Paste and press enter: cd Desktop
6) Paste and press enter: chmod +x build_and_install.sh
7) Paste and press enter: ./build_and_install.sh
8) If a password is asked, put it in and it should start installing.
@ogirginc This worked! I just needed to also do what Charity said below. What I did to make it work 100% was...
1) Press the "Download Zip" button on the right-hand upper corner in Github (Green button)
2) Unzip the files.
3) Move the files to the Desktop.
4) Open Terminal.
5) Paste and press enter: cd Desktop
6) (from Charity) - Paste and press enter: cd BackgroundMusic-master
6) Paste and press enter: chmod +x build_and_install.sh
7) Paste and press enter: ./build_and_install.sh
8) It will notify you that it requires XCode (Respond with Y)
8) If a password is asked, put it in and it should start installing.
I have been using Hear for 3 years https://www.prosofteng.com/hear-... - it allows you to mix the different sound sources, but also add EQ and sound enhancements to everything (ie: Spotify, which weirdly has no built in EQ for desktop).
This is the first release so may be buggy - reminds me of Volume Mixer for Mac which got a great response here on PH!
With this, you will have to install it yourself:
No binaries yet, but building should take less than a minute
@bentossell Alas we at Volume Mixer for Mac were unprepared for the thousands of new users in a few days. We didn't have the notifications/system settings control at the time. Competition is good it forces us to build new features quicker. The attention from this site does remarkable things. Good Luck. Background Music :)
Reminds me of Media Keys, a chrome extension that allows you to use your keybord's media keys to control a large variety of web players in Google Chrome, and that auto pauses one player when you lauch another :

Great app, can't wait to test it on my Mac !
This semi works.
DOES NOT work with Opera or Wavebox. Kast, Discord...
ONLY works on Youtube and known sites like that. I tried on anime sites to help with stream volume issues. I would select firefox when audio would be playing but it did not change the volume when I had the anime playing... help? Can this be fixed?
Edit: I restarted and my audio can be changed on firefox now so my 2nd part of this comment is fixed so far. The first part is still an issue.
1) Press the "Download Zip" button on the left upper corner in Github.
2) Unzip the files.
3) Move the files to the Desktop.
4) Open Terminal.
5) Paste and press enter: cd Desktop
6) Paste and press enter: chmod +x build_and_install.sh
7) sudo spctl --master-disable
8) Paste and press enter: ./build_and_install.sh
9) If a password is asked, put it in and it should start installing.
WORKS FINE FOR ME!
My background music is not working well. I installed it by the xcode and by the download of that other package. It worked just the first few times, and they it did not work anymore. What should I do?
