Bamboo makes investing simple, safe and part of your daily life. Bamboo automatically collects spare change from your everyday purchases (coffee, lunch, etc) and invests into assets based on your selected portfolio mix.

@_nippe This is a great question. We are currently downloadable everywhere, but are restricted in usage depending on Geo location. As you could imagine finance itself is a difficult legal maze, and we are working on getting Bamboo available in more jurisdictions.

I've been more like the ever present janitor. Really want to highlight that. That it's a group of us that built this, and everyone has contributed to the success thus far.

I've had automated savings on my debit card for years, every time I make a purchase it hides 1€ into another bank account but then the cash just stands there doing nothing. Guess I'd be a millionaire now had this existed 10 years ago... 🙄
@rudi_skogman - Hahahaha, yeah imagine catching that opportunity. 1€ per transaction into Gold & Bitcoin for a decade. We would potentially have the largest concentration of millionaires of any investment app.

@austrachilango thanks, it's taken a lot of iterations among the team to get it to where it is today! We think it hits a nice level of playfulness that has been missing from a lot of FinTech apps.

While you might just have economics in mind, we have scalability and speed on ours.
The Serverless architecture allows us to move really fast. And given the size of our development team is 2 Developers and 1 QA. And the fact that we've built a very sophisticated system that handles a lot of real-time trades into different exchanges, tied in to the traditional banking system as well as with our custodian system for user funds. It's safe to say we would not have been able to develop things this fast, and running at the scale we are for the price point we are at.
Spending money on servers just because you have the money, is a bad business decision. Given that we are in fintech and our product is about investing it feels natural that our business decisions also is looked at through the lens of ROI.
Most features we have in the app has been built and deployed in the last 6 months, with a team of 3. Our level of automation is almost at 100%, so I beg the differ.
Saying that we are 100% Serverless, means that we know what we are doing, and we've built this to scale without having to re-build our infra or hire dev-ops because we hit limitations on our scaling matrix.
Hope that brings clarity into why we have chosen a Serverless architecture.

Hi @linusekenstam and @brian_foody, was taking a look through the website and good to see some fellow Sandgropers making these kind of innovative products.
My interest is in your gold and silver offerings, which I see from the blog are relatively new for Bamboo.
However, there wasn’t any information on the site regarding your AFS license (as you’re holding assets in trust), or your regulatory or compliance approach.
Are you able to give some insight on those areas please.
Really impressive how you guys set this up. I've seen a few projects trying to do this, but they haven't succeeded yet. Good luck and will definitely use it when the android app comes :)

Some details about the product for all the curious builders out there 🤓.
We are 100% Serverless, built from the ground up on AWS and integrated through AWS Amplify to a React Native front-end. That's just a fancy way of saying we couldn't afford expensive servers!
All of our design assets are custom made - Linus hand sketches them while sipping on martinis in a dimly lit bar in Barcelona. That's how designers work right!? We feel that they give a lovely human touch to your investment journey in what is usually a very sterile environment.
The Proof of Solvency work is pretty complicated. While it has its fair share of moon maths, it’s built on top of the ground-work that people smarter than us have laid. We’re happy to talk more about it if you’re interested in homomorphic encryption, zero-knowledge proofs and all those cool stuff. Isn’t that how you like to spend your Friday evenings too!?

I've been using this app for several months. It's a very simple way to hive of a few dollars here and there to invest in Bitcoin. Super easy to HODL.

Hi Everyone! Linus here from Bamboo.
So excited to be here. We’ve built Bamboo with the goal of making it easier for people to get started with alternative investments (think precious metals, cryptocurrencies, art, even sneakers!). There are four assets currently supported on the platform: Gold, Silver, Bitcoin and Ethereum.
New investors can choose from preset portfolios (e.g., 50/50 Bitcoin/Gold) or build a custom one, allocating as little as 1% of their investment to an asset. Pretty neat if you ask me.
Investments take the form of top-ups (self-explanatory) or acorn-style round-ups (these come from collecting the spare change from your daily transactions). And we are currently in the process of building recurring investments and they will be arriving soon!
Once you’re all set up, Bamboo will handle purchasing the assets in the proportions you’ve selected. We’re able to buy small fractions of each assets (even as little as a milligram of gold), making it a relatively low-risk way for people to be introduced to investing.
Giving your money to a third party service requires a lot of trust, and we believe the best way to build trust is through being transparent. We have spent a lot of time adding features that provide our customers with more information about their investments.
People LOVE knowing exactly what they have invested in so with every contribution comes a full receipt outlining:
- The price each asset was purchased at
- The amount of each asset we purchased for you
- The flat transaction fee we took - No Spreads! Spread-less!
What other cool things have we been up to, oh yes, this is a game changer.
Proof of Solvency:
We have spent the last year researching and implementing a protocol that enables our customers to trustlessly audit their funds. This means customers can independently verify that their funds are properly managed and accounted for, and that we are fully solvent. We believe that we are the first investment platform in the world to have this feature included.
