I primarily built this app for SMRs (small and medium-sized restaurants) who lack the technology and funds to market their deals to foodies. I worked in the restaurant industry for many years (while in college) and noticed that the SMRs couldn't compete with the big corporate owned restaurants who would advertise their deals and specials last minute to steal the business away from locally owned restaurants. Basil allows SMRs to market their deals in real-time. Restaurants can use the web-based interface to schedule their deals for a specified period of time. Basil is still in its infancy and I plan to introduce additional features based on the feedback I receive from restaurants and foodies. I am currently working with a few restaurants in Tampa Bay to market their deals thru Basil. I plan to launch on October 1st, so by then I'll have enough restaurants signed up to advertise their deals.
