Back in december 1981, the BBC made a computer aimed at schools so kids could get their hands on the future's main tool.
2015 will see the release of its descendant: the BBC micro:bit. It will be distributed to 1 million+ kids around 11-12 years old so they can learn to code and create things with it. It will initially be limited to schoolchildren qualifying for it, and will be rolled out in october. But the BBC said it will go on sale before the end of the year (2015).
This is a project by the BBC, which is funded by british people. The BBC is investing in the country's next generation of makers. And that is exciting. As a belgian immigrant in the UK, I'm happy, no, proud to pay the TV License.
