Hey, Product Hunt crew! 👋 Everything we do at beams, is to help tech teams thrive. Today, we're stoked to share a tool we've cooked up to make your meetings matter more. We are building beams together with and for product and tech teams of all sizes. One of the challenges they all share is having too many meetings. And let's be real—unnecessary meetings can suck the joy out of your day faster than you can say "agenda item." You know that whole "this could have been an email" joke? Yeah, it hits different when it's your reality. But guess what? There's light at the end of the tunnel! From Shopify binning boring meetings to Elon Musk preaching the gospel of walking out on pointless chats, change is in the air. Enter our hero: "Meetings That Require Your Attention." Just sync up your Google Calendar, and boom! Find out which meetings seem to be non-value adding and how to turn 'em into something worthwhile. We're all ears for your thoughts! Let us know how we can improve this tool for you. So that we can all take back our calendars, one meeting at a time 🚀

Hiii Jana and Mihri! Congrats on your latest launch! This is so interesting! I'm wondering, how does it know what an ineffective meeting looks like? Also how does it calculate a costly meeting vs a non-costly meeting. Is it time based? thanks p.s. love the beams team!
Jana Schellong
@pamsny Thank you so much! We're currently looking into the number of attendees, acceptance ratio, duration of the meeting and since when it's been scheduled and (lack of) agenda or attachements to evaluate the meeting's effectiveness. The cost estimate is calculated based on duration, number of participants and an average salary. Looking for further feedback from users to enhance to optimize it their role and goals. What are the meetings that you think they're non-value-adding or time wasting?
Pam Garza
@jana_schellong wow nice! is there a way to evaluate a meeting afterwards, such as score it or let beams know it was a great meeting? I'm pretty lucky in that I don't have too many meetings at PH (2-3 weekly). But I have been at startups where there is a daily check in meeting and I felt like that was not super value adding.
Jana Schellong
@pamsny So cool that you suggest that. We are actually working on exactly that feature where you can evaluate meetings afterwards and give feedback to the organizer. Can't wait for you to try it 🤩
Germán Merlo
Hehe loved the concept of 'ineffective meetings'. And it's so true. We spend a lot of hours on unnecessary meetings that could be addressed by a simple email or chat. Happy to see you helping on that Jana! All the best here!
Jana Schellong
@german_merlo1 Great, looking forward to your feedback!

Congratulations Jana, I appreciate the effort you have put in creating Beams. In my opinion, you should allow the visitor to scan the product first. You can show the sign in form once the user has scrolled a certain height. That will be a better experience. I might be wrong but that is just an opinion.
Jana Schellong
@mayoyo25 Hi Franklin, thanks for your feedback. For this launch on Product Hunt we decided to link to the product directly, as you already get an an intro about it here. We do have a website and landing page where you can scan the product. Check it out: https://usebeams.com/calendar-he...

Oooh save me more time, please! This is a really cool product, I can't wait to dig into it even more! Excellent work, team! 👏👏👏
Jana Schellong
@trent_kennelly and we can't wait to get your feedback :)
Jake Tital
This is a cool idea. can you share with me a real world use case you have seen so far with Muse?
Mihri Minaz
@jaketital Hi! Currently individuals are bringing the calendar health score and meeting insights to retrospective meetings to review and improve/reschedule/cancel meetings with the team. They extract more focus time for the team by time boxing and no-meeting days. (saving time and decreasing costs)
Shushant Lakhyani
This will save a lot of time for remotely working teams
Mihri Minaz
@shushant_lakhyani exactly, sparing more time for meaningful work! 🚀
Ata Onat
I love this! Good that it flags out when there is no agenda etc., because unless the manager / leader does that, typically people just go along with the meetings most of the time. $$ saved notification is cool as well. Congrats and good luck!
Jana Schellong
@ata_onat totally agree, thanks for highlighting this!

I have been using Beams for the past ~2 years, and I can't imagine working without it anymore! I love the focus feature, which allows me to increase my productivity, as well as how easy it is to organize and join meetings. Definitely try it out if you are ppl like me who has >20 hours of meetings every week!
Jana Schellong
@ben_shih thanks for providing such valuable feedback during the past 2 years. We're so grateful to have you as our early user and believer!
Michael Shver
Congratulations on the launch! 🔥🔥🔥 Beam looks like a great tool for teams to start valuing their time more! The problems you discuss in the video — such as not having an agenda for meetings or inviting too many people when only a couple of them need to discuss the issue — are things we all struggle with from time to time. The ability to have an objective analysis of it all with the counted cost of time can really make teams' relationships with meetings healthier. Great job!
Jana Schellong
@michaelshver thanks for trying it out and leaving your feedback!
Ilker Koksal
It all saves time, helps your focus to your core, and the syncs work smoothly. 👌🏻

Congratulations on the launch, beams team! 🎉 Meeting Muse sounds like a game-changer for optimizing team productivity and making meetings more meaningful. As a founder myself, I know the struggle of juggling countless meetings and the importance of making each one count. I'm curious, how does Meeting Muse analyze meeting effectiveness? Are there specific metrics or indicators it looks for to provide optimization suggestions? Wishing you all the best on your product journey! 🚀
Mihri Minaz
@mashy great questions. We're currently looking into the number of attendees, acceptance ratio, duration of the meeting, agenda, description and attachments of the meeting to evaluate the meeting's effectiveness. Looking for further feedback from users to enhance to optimize it for role and the goals. What are the meetings that you think they're non-value-adding or time wasting?
Albert
@mihriminaz probably lack of agenda, but also note taking of core discussions and what action points need to get done, and then following up on those to ensure what was discussed is completed

Congrats on the launch! The idea of analyzing Google Calendar to identify non-value-adding meetings and offering suggestions for improvement is super useful. What specific criteria does Meeting Muse use to determine which meetings aren't contributing value, and can it suggest practical steps to make them more efficient?
Emrah Bayraktaroglu
@anastasia_chakileva_ great question! As @mihriminaz replied above: We're currently looking into the number of attendees, acceptance ratio, duration of the meeting, agenda, description and attachments of the meeting to evaluate the meeting's effectiveness.
