π Hello everyone
I'm excited to introduce BeeBetter, a habit tracker born out of my passion for iOS development and a genuine need for a better way to track habits.
I've always found existing habit trackers lacking - either too expensive with monthly subscriptions or lacking the visual appeal I needed. So, I decided to create my own.
BeeBetter is my attempt to make habit tracking simple, effective, and accessible to everyone. And the best part? It's completely free and ad-free.
Give it a try and let me know what you think! π
@anastasiia_stepko Thanks for your comment! Starting a new habit, even something as simple as using a habit tracker, can sometimes be challenging.
Here are a few tips that might help:
1. Start Small
Begin by tracking just one or two habits that you're really motivated to work on.
2. Set Reminders
Use the reminder feature in the app to prompt you to open it at the same time each day. This can help make using the tracker part of your daily routine.
3. Track Progress
Seeing your progress over time can be motivating. Try to check in with the app regularly to see how you're doing and celebrate your successes.
4. Stay Consistent
Consistency is key when forming new habits. Even if you miss a day or two, don't give up! Just pick up where you left off and keep going.
I hope these tips help! Remember, forming a new habit takes time, so be patient with yourself.
You've got this! π
@barbora_plasovska I love the fact that I can see my daily progress in the App. It could be cool to have some widgets on the home screen showing the progress !
@clovis_krzyzanowski Thank you for your feedback! I'm glad you're enjoying seeing your daily progress in the app. Widgets are definitely on the roadmap! I'm working on bringing them to BeeBetter soon, so stay tuned for updates. π
Wow, BeeBetter sounds like an incredible tool! The name alone has such a positive vibe! It's like having a friendly little bee buzzing around as a reminder π
Wondering if you are going to buzz the webapp as well?
@nemanja_trtica Thank you for your support!π
BeeBetter is currently designed as a native iOS app built in Swift. Creating a web app would require rewriting everything in JavaScript, which isn't in the plans at the moment.
Hey @barbora_plasovska this is great! Just downloaded and going to give it a try this week. I've never gotten into habit trackers but my partner loves them, so this is a good excuse to try :) One small bug I noticed - I'm not able to toggle on "Reminders" after I've created a habit. The toggle works when I create a new habit, but not when I try to edit an existing one. It'd also be nice if I could update the time stamp without toggling Reminders on. Probably not a huge use case, but it felt like a bug when I couldn't change the time without turning on alerts.
@barbora_plasovska it'd also be nice if you recommended habits for me to quick-add to my dashboard. Given I'm new to habit tracking, I'm having a bit of a cold start problem.
Hi @erin_gusty ! Thank you for your feedback!π I hope BeeBetter helps you get into habit tracking!
To be able to toggle reminders you need to click βeditβ in the top right corner to enable the toggle, otherwise youβre not able to edit any of the fields of the habit. For the reminder time I could make it possible to change the time if reminders are off but I didnβt see any use-case in it.
Thanks for the tip of adding example habits, that could be a very nice addition to BeeBetter!π
@sm_solovyev Thank you so much!π I'm thrilled to hear that BeeBetter seems like the right fit for your sport-habit tracking needs. Happy habit tracking! π
@shushant_lakhyani At the moment I am focused on releasing the apps for iPad and Mac, however I'm definitely open to exploring ways to gamify BeeBetter more in the future. It's an intriguing idea, and I'll keep it in mind as I continue to improve the app.
Looks really nice and I love the privacy aspect of it, very important for stuff like this!
The calendar view looks great but consider spacing equally horizontally and vertically. Right now it looks a bit wide because the horizontal spacing between weekdays is wider than the vertical spacing.
I also wonder if you could have a more complex Github style calendar view that takes into account multiple habits and then gives an appropriate shade according to the percentage complete you were that day. Probably more complex but it could feel rewarding :)
@bradydowling Thanks for your feedback! I'm glad you appreciate the emphasis on privacy.
Regarding the calendar view, I'll definitely look into adjusting the spacing to make it more visually balanced.
As for the GitHub style calendar view, I appreciate the suggestion, but I'm aiming for a very user-friendly and simplistic design in this app. While the GitHub style calendar might be interesting for some users, it might also add unnecessary complexity for many others who are not familiar with it.
I'm a huge proponent of voice integration and I think a voice check-in could be a huuuge benefit for this and a step up above other habit trackers like this one. Just being able to go into the app and record 20 seconds of voice where you talk about everything you've done that day, then having that converted to actual tracking events for the app to register. This would take a lot of the tedium out of the logging aspect of habit tracking apps. I'd pay for that.
@bradydowling I appreciate your feedback and enthusiasm for voice integration! While I understand the appeal of using AI for voice check-ins, I'm personally cautious about incorporating AI into BeeBetter due to privacy concerns. Many users value their privacy, and I want to ensure that their data remains secure and private.
Moreover, I share your sentiment about the growing trend of integrating AI into every aspect of apps. Sometimes, it feels like AI is added just for the sake of it, without truly enhancing the user experience.
That being said, I'm always open to exploring alternative ways to improve user experience and streamline the logging process. If you have any other ideas or suggestions, I'd love to hear them!
@barbora_plasovska absolutely! I think you can expect new (local) AI SDK functions from Apple in the coming month so be watching out for that.
In the meantime, you can allow people to download voice-to-text models to their phone so their data never leaves the device (Superwhisper does this already and I'm planning on doing it with Neurture). As I mentioned, this would be more complex but would be a huge (potentially premium) benefit.
This would all be local, cheap (no API calls or hosting costs), and privacy-focused. This seems like a really direct and immediate benefit from an AI feature, not just adding it so you can put the "AI" tag on it.
Just dropped an upvote 'cause the thought of actually sticking to my habits with something this intuitive is pretty sweet. I'm all for keeping personal growth stuff private, and you're doing it ad-free too, which is the cherry on top. Plus, across-the-hive syncing with iCloud? Buzzing with convenience!
Curious here how does this app keep a forgetful user engaged? Any funky reminders or motivation boosts to keep us regular folks consistently checking in?
Keep the hive alive!
@aman_wen Thank you so much for your nice comment! To bee consistent, you can setup reminders for your individual habits as well as daily motivation notifications!
@kenansamet I have a software agency, and your app could be interesting. Creating smooth relationships with freelancers is super useful for us, as we're a small entity and unable to hire full-time employees. Notified. Additionally, I'm also launching a platform here on Product Hunt. It helps brands and creators significantly increase audience engagement on social media through gamification mechanics and social farming. It could be useful for you in the future for your social accounts or your company's.
@matteo_magliozzi Great to hear from you. Our mission is to support freelancers within the process of receiving, maintaining and submitting a freelance job, where we distinguish ourselves from marketplaces. I admire the creativity of the platform you are building, notified.
All the best for the launch π
From the UX, it seems very user-friendly and effective. Congrats on the launch. Upvoted! I want to stay updated on how it goes.
In the future, we could collaborate to promote it. Having the first case studies would be great for us. We're launching Shockwave, a social media marketing platform on Saturday! Our mission is to help brands, creators and company significantly increase audience engagement on social media through gamification mechanics and social farming.
We'd love for you to join us by clicking 'notify me' on our coming soon page. Infinite thanks to everyone who will do it.
