The 'like' button was an great innovation - massively driving up the volume of social interactions on Facebook by simplifying the process to a click. Yet even Mark Zuckerberg has admitted that sometimes a 'like' button just isn't appropriate - 'science' has proven that humans have >1 emotion. Bit.ly take a stab at making it easier to express emotions through a bookmarklet that allows us to express buzzfeed-like expressions like wtfthis.me and loath.es. It's quite fun and adds a bit of character to URLs. However, you do have to re-enable permanently-visible bookmarks, which a recent Chrome update hid away (a bit of a pain). And for Tweeters who rely on bit.ly to abbreviate URLs that extra bit of emotion costs you a few extra characters, which will probably make you sadto.me (I think).
