Hi hunters! I thought I'd share my motivation behind this product... During the pandemic, I became a victim of too much screen time. Like many of us, I stare at a computer all day; work, Netflix, Youtube, video games… the list goes on. I would take breaks from my screens by playing audiobooks and podcasts while commuting, doing chores, and relaxing (or as we now call it… isolating). It wasn't long before my podcasts became repetitive and my audiobooks became too drawn out. I was bored. I wanted something interesting. Something to make my breaks more engaging. Something that would teach me a new skill. Something that would help me grow instead of just continue to exist. Something unique to share with friends that wasn't just "have you seen this new show" or "it might rain later." That's when I found Medium. I loved the content: interesting ideas and stories that are short and community-vetted. It soon became clear: this is the missing ingredient from my breaks! But wait... breaks are for getting away from screens, so I can't be reading Medium on my phone! Medium then introduced an AI voice that read the articles to you. Perfect, right? Wrong. AI voices are just that: artificial. They work for the visually impaired, but they don’t capture the emotion and flow of the content. These are real humans pouring their hearts out on Medium! They brainstorm, research, plan, write, edit, sleep, edit again, and so on. No. These need real, human voices! I decided to reach out to these writers. I learned a lot, but most importantly, that they were just as excited. They wanted to make more money from their content because they truly enjoy writing it. They don't earn much from Medium, so a lot of them are forced to work other jobs. The top earners on Medium are generally already successful writers and are paid a stable salary to write content. On the other hand, all other Medium writers can only earn based on how much time people spend on their articles. This struck a chord with me, and through these discussions, Blogcast was born! Enter Blogcast: the solution to my problem, the problem of writers, and (after some more research) the problem of many — maybe even you. You can listen to the most interesting ideas, away from screens, in a little as a few minutes… and writers earn their share of the profits. The reception from our partners was overwhelming; they purchased microphones and set up recording studios. We signed a number of best-selling authors before even having a finished product. I really hope you enjoy the content — most of it is read by the author. We already span the most popular categories like productivity, business, self-improvement, psychology, technology, history, life, and more! I personally listened to every article — or as we call it, Blogcast — and can honestly say that I've learned so much useful information that make my life better. I love this so much! I can listen while I work out in the morning and while I drive. And unlike long form podcasts, they're short enough to get in, get information, and get on with my day - smarter and more inspired. :)
