@arush was kind enough to share his results and strategy building BRANDiD in: How we generated $13k of sales in 24hrs through Product Hunt

This seems similar to my buddy @colbyh's Cord.ly but with more personal, human attention. @arush - quick feedback: 1) I was going through the onboarding flow and accidentally selected the wrong option and cannot change it. 2) I'm 6 feet tall exactly and wasn't sure what to answer when it asked how tall I am. I selected "average" because it was in between the two other options but I don't really know what "average" is.

@arush - I didn't continue because I accidentally told you I was hefty. :) I need a way to restart -- I supposed I could clear my cookies and do it again before registering.

Really cool concept. FYI the phone number formatting requirements are maddening. Esp as you're only live in the US.

Thanks @timjahn absolutely correct, this is not Trunk Club. They are a retailer and are incentivised to push expensive gear that they have sitting on their books. That makes their stylists inherently biased with their selections. We are a marketplace, we work with any retailer on earth, we can therefore deliver a totally unbiased and truly personalised experience. Another point to note, we operate our own driver network, whereas Trunk Club relies on courier services - this means we can deliver a far more integrated experience. E.g.: * our drivers operate outside normal working hours, e.g. 9pm when you get home from work (aside: this has always annoyed me, why do couriers only operate 9-5 the only timeslot when you are guaranteed to be away from home??) * our personal shoppers can come to visit you during ride-alongs * unlike couriers, our drivers actually do hard work for you: they request and print out returns forms, buy repackaging material, pack and post

Hey PH, thanks for finding us, co-founder here! Here's an AMA FAQ BRANDiD is the most personal shopping experience you'll ever have. I would encourage the product people here to take a look - we've reimagined ecommerce and designed everything around the conversation between you and your personal shopper. Quick reasons why to try us out: * Try ANY clothes from ANY store in multiple sizes, at home for FREE == try before you buy * Return Like a Man™ - we have drivers on the streets of SF/Bay Area who collect and process all your returns for you - RLAM™ is free for life - never deal with retailer returns ever again * Your own personal shopper available 24/7 - uber for personal shopping ** How we compete with Amazon ** * You go to Amazon when you know what you are searching for. You go to BRANDiD when you don't know what you're searching for - most guys fall into this bucket when it comes to clothing * You cannot try before you buy on Amazon ** Why not just buy straight from the retailers? ** * Retailers are incentivised to make returns as hard as possible. RLAM™ is free via BRANDiD * Save your inbox from spammy retailer sales emails. Retailers don't get your email address - we scrape delivery APIs and push (iOS or email) you with delivery status updates instead ** How this is not Trunk Club / [other personal shopping startup]** * TC only work with certain brands. Expensive ones. * TC is a retailer, they stock their own inventory, they are incentivised to push whatever gear they need to shift that week. BRANDiD is not a retailer, we are a marketplace connecting you with stores via a truly personalised experience * TC relies on courier services, since we have our own network of drivers, we can offer pin-point collection times outside of working hours which couriers cannot, and our personal shoppers even come to visit you via ride-alongs ** How this is not [fashion tech startup] ** * We integrate with every retailer on earth * Most fashion tech startup teams do not realise that discovery (personal shopping) is only half the problem. Most do not have a background in retail, logistics and operations - they ignore that returns are a huge friction point for men, and online-to-offline services like RLAM™ are too big and too difficult to tackle. We are dedicated to controlling the complete end-to-end experience, from discovery through to delivery and returns. And if you've read through this you deserve a prize, so if your startup is in SF, everyone in your team will get $50 off your first $200 - just mention it in the live chat. Remember that means $50 off any clothes from any store for your entire team. And you don't have to spend the whole $200 in one go, so make your next clothing purchase through BRANDiD. We'll even give you $25 for each person you invite using your referral link. Thanks, and we're here all day for AMA!
Arush
Also, @rrhoover looks like you got through the onboarding but didn't make it to registration, is there something that stopped you?
Arush
@dshan good point! Thanks for the feedback, FYI you can share the $50 offer with your personal referral link: https://www.getbrandid.com?utm_r...

@4nkush & @arush are great folks from London who moved to SF. Started as a Man-Underwear subscription, then expanded(pivoted) to a broader fashion range and introduced personal shopping assistants. Will ping them for AMA.

@yvoscha looks like it's SF/Valley only. I used 94304 and it worked. Tried Boston and NY ZIPs and both were rejected.
Arush
@rrhoover - thanks! we'll address this asap. Haven't seen cord.ly before but will check it out... just preparing a PH AMA FAQ for you guys
Arush
@yvoscha @adamsigel Hi, co-founder here, correct we're only available in SF/Valley right now because of our FREE collected returns service - our drivers collect and process all your returns for you - we call it Return Like a Man™ - and this is how we're able to send you clothes for free so you can try before you buy
Arush
Ahhh ok! no worries, just go through and register and I'll delete your wrong answer, without registering theres no way I can find your answers from here. As you're in SF we'd love to have you as a beta tester
Arush
Wow we've had a TON of new customers from PH, seems like a great target segment for us. If anyone has any questions, please don't hesitate to holla
Tim Jahn
This actually sounds pretty sweet. I immediately assumed it was just Trunk Club and only worked for $250 jeans (which I'm DEFINITELY not the target market for). But it looks like something I'd actually use. Now the wait to see if you guys ever migrate outside the Valley bubble, hopefully over to Chicago. :)

What is an example zip code to check out the site? 90210 doesn't work.

their new instant chat type homepage when you login is very different and pretty awesome.
