Brave Together is a private video conference tool that you can use to call with your friends and colleagues. Nothing that you say or type in the service is logged or saved.
@woakin They don't take these tools on. They require everybody to use the Brave Browser for these video calls. That means you don't sign up for video call software, but for a new browser. My assumption is that while security & privacy is important to people, it's not that important to them so they set up a whole new browser. Video call software benefits from accessibility, not from exclusivity. But I think for niche communities that all use Brave it's going to work.
@woakin@jonasschmahl Why would you not use Brave at this point? It’s the most superior and lightweight browser on the market, and I can now video conference without having to use another app. Brave knows nothing about me, don’t need an account or anything to video call. It’s a all in one place now, make search’s, call etc.
@woakin@jonasschmahl oh let’s also take into account Zoom requires separate app, and requires personal information to use. Zoom has a questionable privacy standpoint. Zoom also limits you to 40 minute calls. Brave together is unlimited time, end to end encrypted. It’s honestly a genius move on Braves part imo. Will be a huge catalyst for brave growth, tried brave together yesterday and I’m amazingly pleased.
@woakin@cameron_asa 100% agree! Just don't think adoption is going to be easy, especially for businesses even though Brave is so much better than Zoom as a video calling tool. But we're starting to talk Browsers and there it's competing with Google (and Businesses that use Google as their suite). I'm not saying it's impossible, but it's definitely going to be hard. In general, I hope it works out, Brave is really cool!
Excellent move by the Brave team. More and more people are now expecting privacy and security from the software they interact with, and with more people video calling now than ever, I'm glad to see Brave entering the market and providing this alternative.
You should not be a product, and you should not be for sale.
I already have the brave browser but I am not seeing how to use this. It just takes you to the download page, then goes to an info page about the browser. It does not tell you how to access the video callling
@kristin_vargas1 In brave simply go to together.brave.com in the URL bar. Super easy, right low the brave together widget is only in the nightly version. To access it in the stable version until the widget makes it there just go to “together.brave.com”
