Hey Product Hunters!,
I am Abid, a Software Developer by experience and a maker of the Buddio Walk app.
The motivation to stick to a daily walking habit is hard to find and easy to lose. This app pairs the user with a remote walking buddy, another user, to keep both motivated to walk.
Please try it, and feel free to drop any feedback and questions in the comments section.
@abid_masood Great job on releasing Buddio Walk.
Your mission of getting people into the habit of walking by creating a platform of accountability buddies is commendable.
There are countless scientific and psychological findings that support your mission and approach.
Best of luck with the launch.
Are you planning on porting your app to iOS?
@phil_schwengel ππ for your suggestion of adding a gamification element to Buddio Walk. Itβs important to engage users who are trying to make lifestyle change in any/every way to keep them invested in their journey.
Congratulations on your launch! I love this idea I have already suggested it to my sister and friends as I know they will benefit from it. Adding a walkie talkie option or short form video would create a even stronger connection. Well done guys! :)
Excellent idea π‘ much needed. Congratulations on the launch. Can't try as google play store says the app isn't available in my country. I hope you ll launch it globally soon! Keep up the good work π
This concept is so sweet. π β€οΈ
It would be cool if there was a way to voice chat with the other person so you could walk and talk. Perhaps there could be a way to select a conversation topic or submit your own for the walk.
At the same time, since the app matches two strangers, this could put people at risk of bad actors taking advantage of this feature to get personal information, or simply having to talk with someone you don't click with.
I love that Buddio values and respects user privacy, so I wonder how they can continue to do so while pushing this a little further so that users feel more connected with each other. It would be frustrating if you keep getting matched with users on Buddio who don't show up after scheduling. I'm more accountable when I know at least a little bit about the people I'm being held accountable by (e.g. teacher, classmate, friend, etc.).
Though this would probably require account creation (unless you do something like Cuckoo and generate a shareable link: https://cuckoo.team), perhaps there could be a way to add your friends to a list and share when you will be walking with them to see who is available. One of my best friends takes walks allll the time, but we live in different countries. This feature would help us find a common time to take a walk together. :)
