Bullet - Share captioned video snippets of podcasts from any app

by
Top Hunter

Podcasts are hard to share because they are hard to immediately consume. Bullet lets you share captioned video snippets of your favourite podcasts from any podcast app so that your friends can immediately consume it.

@anass_hassouni have you found an app that can do this on android?
Benjamin Lim
Hey PH! Sharing podcasts is difficult because audio is hard for the recipient to immediately consume. We’ve built a simple way to share captioned video snippets of podcasts, so your friends can simply glaze over it to get to that “ah-ha moment”. Bullet works on top of almost any podcast app on iOS, so you don’t have to switch podcast apps - simply share the link to Bullet from your podcast app of choice. We hope you find this tool useful! F.A.Q Will there be support for more than 15 seconds? - We are about to launch support for up to 30s in the next day or two (Watch out for an update)

Hi! This product seems wondrous. Are there plans to make it available for Android? Thanks.
Benjamin Lim
@niklaspivic666 Hey if this works out. Definitely!
Alexander Spoor
Aaaaye this is so 100% the formula 🥳 Add Instagram Story exports (and integration) and I'd say you're far ahead enough of any competition to dominate the space. Is this in the works atm?
Benjamin Lim
@alexanderspoor Haha so sorry. glitched out. Yea we're working on vertical video now! But you can definitely still share the horizontal on stories.
Alexander Spoor
@benjalimm Haha, thank God. Thought I was being thick for a sec. And awesome, that's exciting! I'll be on the lookout :)

I believe the Overcast app was the first to provide this (and the first to provide the basic design concept you're using), but it's great to see this catching on. It's great for podcasters! Congrats on the app and getting to #1 on Product Hunt!

I’ve been looking for something like this to create clips from mobile, but I can’t seem to get it to work. Really hoping whatever is causing the glitch will be fixed soon. Cheering for you guys!
Benjamin Lim
@gabegodines Hey Gabe. What is the glitch and what is the podcast? Could you send it to me in a DM and we'll work on fixing it asap!

As a heavy consumer of podcasts I have always wished for a better way to share key snippets...but the biggest challenge is actually that I am usually driving a car or lawn mower when I hear the bit I want to share. Some kind of voice trigger that would bookmark the clip and remind me when I'm at my laptop...or even let me share in the moment is what I most want.

Hi Benjamin, great app. Couple of suggestions (besides adding more time): 1. Possible to quick tap - to mark a starting point since you’re following along with your eyes, and it’s easier to synch your preferred starting point this way? 2. Possible to re-emphasise the waveform height, so quick pauses/silences are easier to spot? 3. Possible to ‘carry over’ source track ID/URL say when sharing on Twitter, so the source can be quickly attributed? 4. Possible to stack bullets - from different parts of the podcast - so you can link 3 or 4 bullets together quickly. Thanks!
