@shyjal Thanks! You're right, Stripe is only available in 25 countries right now (https://stripe.com/global). Creators from other countries can select Paypal for payout. In fact, 75% of our users prefer Paypal :)

@renehesse Hi Rene, That's right – we're using Stripe for payments to make it as frictionless and fast as possible. You can still choose your payout via Stripe or Paypal and will be instantly paid (we've integrated 'Stripe Connect' to make this work).

@joseph_sunny haven't had luck with the WP Plugin. Got a header error on one site and I figured it was a conflict with the theme, so I tried it on another but just get a blank screen on that one when I try to connect my account.

@delahuntagram Hey David! Sorry to hear that you missed out on coffees :( You're right. We're sticking with direct one-click payment, which is only possible with Stripe. Multiple options (Stripe and Paypal) is for 'payout' and not for supporter 'payment'. Paypal payment requires several redirects and additional details, which won't align with the fast-and-simple approach of BuyMeACoffee. However, I'll bring this up in our next brainstorming session, and see if we can somehow include a Paypal option without causing clutter.

Wow, this tool — and the domain name — is such a great idea! Now we can just implement this instead of doing it with crappy Javascript and PayPal API. It's beautifully executed and well designed. @cyberneticdave Thanks for the suggestion, David. It was deliberate not to offer multiple currency support. We believe having a unified payment flow will go a long way in improving conversions. Higher conversions = happy creators :) However, we're currently looking into paying creators in their currencies, which will solve half the problem (+ a lot more payment options like Apple Pay, Android Pay, Bitcoin, etc.)

@joseph_sunny Oh, I agree! Showing multiple choices to end users would make for a bad UX. I was thinking it would be cool if I could choose which currency my page is displayed in as part of the configuration. I'm assuming that most of my traffic will come from the UK and could be put off thinking that they will be charged a conversion fee by their bank (which may or may not be the case, but people will make snap judgements based on what they see). I'll see what happens with the dollar sign there :-)

@thibmaekelbergh Thanks, Thibault! You just stated our USP :) We've also noticed many creators using their BuyMeACoffee link alongside Patreon. I think it's a decent idea to provide fans with an option of quick one-time payment, since many do not like the idea of going through the long process of signing up and paying monthly.

@nkcss It's a bit Patreon-y, but we offer customizable 'thank you messages' that creators often use to reward supporters. Will that do the trick? It's pretty straightforward to set up, but you might want to mention the rewards on your page.

As a content creator on youtube/social media - I think this is a crazy easy way to engage with your audience in a creative way that is a little less like asking for a handout. Really great alternative to patreon as this is a 1 time donation

Pros:

Super easy to use, quick to setup, goal setting, bitcoin support coming!

Cons:

None so far.

@thomaswang Thanks for reporting this, Thomas. We are looking into this, although we couldn't replicate the error. SendInBlue (our transaction email provider) is currently upgrading our email quota; so it could be that. BTW we just waived your platform fee, and glad to be your first supporter! :)

@binoyxj Haha, true that. We have our reasons though. 1. More than half of the donations through BMC are $15+ 2. We're soon introducing 'Rewards' feature, which is another reason to facilitate large payments. 3. Fingers crossed (a) Lightning Network will reduce BTC transaction fees and increase speed or (b) Stripe will support more cryptocurrencies.

@joseph_sunny I love it how your team is so responsive to users, it's refreshing 😃 I was having a think about how it could be done, and I was thinking maybe it could replace the existing position of the button generator. It would make sense, because this would then be with the rest of the analytics, as supposed to the button generator which isn't related. Here's what we do differently: - Multiple payout options: Paypal and Stripe (direct bank transfer). - Simple one-click payment for supporters (Instead of Paypal, which require several redirects). This also means higher conversion. - Official Wordpress plugin. - Customisable coffee amount ($3, $4 or $5). - A team of 5, working hard to improve the platform and bring new features ;) We just released the Wordpress plugin last week. Cryptocurrency payment support is one of the many new things we're working on right now. Good enough to switch? :)

Great product. "Tipping" is becoming an increasingly popular way to monetize video content, especially when it's live content. This is the right time to launch this venture and I wish you the best of luck with it. Do you plan on having integrations so that when people "Buy a coffee", a message or prompt appears on the live stream - this method is proven to increase the amount of donations received by the creator.

Declining ad revenues and inability to monetise certain types of content (such as Art and Open source projects) has made the life difficult for creators. Slapping a Paypal donate button isn’t working like it once did either. We hope BuyMeACoffee will help solve that. We did a beta-launch in the first week of November, and it’s been a crazy ride. More than 3,000 creators (artists, Youtubers, open source developers) and non-profits use BuyMeACoffee today. Also, we think they appreciate the compliments they receive from their fans more than the money itself.

@joseph_sunny Hey man, installed the WP plugin on my site but received this error, "header information - headers already sent by (output started at..." After connecting, the backend wouldn't work at all. Showed a blank page with header error.
