This is actually a really cool idea. I love that there is a youtuber section as well. I might have to add this as an option to my videos that i make haha

Someday they'll approve me as talent.

Pros:

People love receiving these, it's memorable, it's easy, same amount of money you'd spend on a gift card or a couple drinks for your friend

Cons:

none

A very fun product that I have used for a birthday present to my brother! Fellow Chicago based startup as well which I love!
David Rabie

Download it. You won't regret it.

Pros:

So fun. Great gift. Fun way to kill time too.

Cons:

None really

Cameo is a scam. They take your money but never refund if video isn’t delivered. Customer support remains delusional
claire freeman
@bani_kaur I agree. The app is sketchy and frustrating but they don’t seem to care about fixing it to make it more user friendly.

A bait and switch of an app. Algorithm charges you 1.5x the amount you need to purchase a video. Total mark up. Does not consider users who might not be comfortable putting so much money into an app. Customer service was unable to help me get the amount of "credits" I wanted to purchase and instead explained that I needed to buy a "package" that was $50 more than I was going to spend. Would not recommend this app to anyone and am excited for a competitor who cares about user experience to QUICKLY put Cameo out of business. #TheNextVine

@webbstone_ I totally agree with you. The prices are absurd! I truly thought Randy Quaid charging $999.99 was a joke!! And who has $450 for Vince Neil to have gastric reflux wishing “Decker” (spelled “Derek”) a happy 40th birthday? I’ve complained and seen others complain that there are problems with the booking and with sharing the links. You can’t just click on the link you have to download the app and even then it doesn’t always go smoothly or even at all. Androids can’t seem to get them at all! There seems to be no customer service. I was told my first order would get 10% off but that never happened. They also need to just list all the talent alphabetically instead of making you just randomly search. It’s ridiculous that whoever runs this app has not sorted out these glitches!!!

Booked Scott Evans twice and the person never delivered. Sad really, tied up the money and never did the video, I would have bought something else had I known.
Bani Kaur
@debbie_gibbs hey did you get the refund ?
Kim Harlow D'Angelo
Booked talent Tara Strong as a gift for a fan, after 2 weeks got an email saying she must be too busy and will be submitting refund in a week. We'll see if I actually get it.
Bani Kaur
@kim_harlow_d_angelo did you get the refund ? Same with me but they haven’t refunded it’s been 15 days.

My friends and I have been using Cameo for a year or so- the celebrity pool is awesome and keeps growing! Keep it up Cameo team!

Pros:

Easy to use, fun and makes every significant event even more special

Cons:

None

claire freeman
@nick_garvy I don’t understand how people can honestly say there are no cons with this app??? The links are difficult to share. When you send the link to someone they have to download the app first which can be tricky for some reason since it’s difficult. Kind of ruins the surprise and the fun. Some people like with Android phones can’t get link at all! Frustrating

This is one of the coolest apps I have a seen in a very long time. We use Cameo to reward our team members with their work anniversaries and it has been a epic success. Can't wait to see what they do next!
Jeff Kibbey
Celebrities are not required to identify themselves unless specifically instructed to do so. Therefore, they are indistinguishable from imposters, thus ruining the experience. Cameo does not instruct its customers about this, and does not stand behind the quality of its product.

v dope product!! i got a cameo from @/meathello (twitter) and everytime i need a laugh i go watch it again 🤟🏽 if u want life advice, a shoutout, or just a word of encouragement from your favorite celeb, look no more. 11/10 :))

Booked through the app only to realise it was £13 more on the app than the website! I cancelled and rebooked through website but it still charged me more or less the same. I asked why in email to be told there’s in-app purchase policies (wtf) so in now out of pocket as they keep whatever credit you have left ($2.25) which imo should be a lot more as where is the money gone should be at least £10 left! Never again. The customer service is non existent.

Don't do it. I ordered a video and after 5 days, it was never sent to me. Emailed customer service and "Maddi" was no help. Save your money, there doesn't appear to be any follow through when you place your order!
Sharona Danz Palmerton
It’s been three weeks - no video, no refund, and no explanation. My initial inquiry, with receipt, was met with “we are looking into it” twice more as well as two more requests for the receipt. Don’t do it!

I used Cameo for the 1st time. Picked someone, paid, sent the details and waited...and waited..and waited... 7 days later still no video. Meanwhile, I see the actor tweeting people to 'catch him on Cameo'. I don't know if he didn't feel like it, didn't get it, didn't want to say what I wanted him to say, etc etc. SINCE I RECEIVED 0 COMMUNICATION. I only recognized like 12% of the people on it, most of them are on the older side. I would avoid it but at least read the reviews. Some of them have really bad reviews for being too brief, disinterested or not doing as asked.

I wonder if there will be confusion with the release of Google Cameos?
