Hey everyone ๐
A couple of months ago, I came up with the first iteration of Campfire after my friends and I needed a quick and lightweight way to watch videos together online, all whilst we spent a lot more time at home in these strange times.
Other similar platforms seemed so cluttered and were always distracting us from the main content, the video itself. As a result, I kept building upon Campfire to include a couple more features whilst maintaining its simplicity at its core.
What is at the core of Campfire?
๐ป Fully anonymous viewing, we collect no data from you
๐ฌ An unlimited history of party chat and activity
๐ฟ Invite your friends in seconds, just copy & send the link
๐ฌ Search, add and manage videos at a press of a key
๐ต๏ธ Manage party permissions for all users
๐งโโ๏ธ Play, pause and seek - all in sync
โบ๏ธ Immerse yourself with Cinema mode & more
Campfire is, and will always be 100% free + ad-free.
Thank you and I hope you enjoy Campfire as much as we do everyday! Looking forward to hear your thoughts and suggestions on what you'd like to see next.
?makers Thank you Stefan. Can you tell me if there is a maximum number of people who can watch? Hopefully you can answer within the next 30 mintues as we're having a big party :)
@animify Thank you for getting back to me Stefan. Unfortunately we needed to use Youtube Fiesta yesterday because when we signed up with Campfire we couldn't figure out a way to keep from letting just anyone who attended change the video. If there is a way for only the host to control the video then we missed it. Can you imagine with several hundred people in a party the damage that could be done if even 2 or 3 characters decided to start changing the videos. We probably missed the button to click that would only allow the host to control the video, but we just couldn't find it.
@mike_cleveland Indeed this could be a bit more obvious. However, the owner of the party has a settings icon next to the icon, allowing them to change several permissions related to the party (including adding videos to the playlist). Will work on surfacing this a bit better!
@thomasgalatas appreciate it Thomas, all the positive feedback also makes it super exciting for me. I can definitely see screen sharing being a great asset to Campfire!
@carlabarokas yes! Live streams should work fine, although there might be some issues when trying to seek back into a live stream. This seems to be an issue with the YouTube embed though!
