@taykcrane Yes, this sits very much on top of existing practices and insurance companies. We opened the first clinic ourselves to be able to fine tune the user experience before we launch with external partners
@taykcrane To add to Eren's point – we want to make Carbon as accessible as possible, and that means letting you use the insurance you've already paid for :). We're working on features to mitigate the downsides of paying with insurance. For example, because our bot collects lots of information about your medical issue up front, we'll be able to give very good price estimates before you even schedule your appointment.
@benln Thank you, Ben. I agree, there's a huge opportunity to make healthcare more accessible and simpler. It's great to see other startups taking the lead beside us :)
Love Carbon! Not only because it's taking on a real and complex challenge, but also I've been using it for a while, must say made my life easier and saved me a lot of time.
Most of the time, my need w/ primary care is that I catch a cold or get flu. When that happens, I often need to find time to see a doctor. This often takes couple days, where my symptoms change or get worse. With Carbon, I just start a conversation and get help within hours, if not minutes. I do not need to wait or leave home, if not necessary. In case needed, I visit their clinic for tests. If any medication needed, I receive advice or medication to my home.
My favorite thing about Carbon is that I can follow up on my situation, keep my doctor updated and take actions based on that.
There's a solid team behind this project and I can't wait to see it growing!
@datarade You can schedule appointments on Carbon like you do on ZocDoc, but then continue to use it throughout your care – to message or videochat with your doctor, see your records, order prescriptions, etc.
Hey PH. I’m the CEO and co-founder of Carbon Health.
We have an ambitious plan to build a completely new healthcare system from the ground up. We will do this by connecting independent practices with a unified technology platform which makes providing care (for doctors) and receiving care (for patients) easy, accessible and hassle-free.
Carbon Health delivers a simple yet comprehensive healthcare experience, in and out of the doctor’s office. We’ve built a service that fits with our mobile-first lifestyle, and with the best experience for both our patients and our doctors in mind.
Full integration with local pharmacies, labs, insurance providers and specialists making Carbon Health your one-stop-shop for healthcare needs
Chat with our doctors through the app, or visit them in-person at our clinics
Follow-up on treatment plans, fill prescriptions, schedule appointments, make payments and more - all through one app and at no additional cost
Access to your full medical records, including x-rays and lab results, through the app - your records are always with you
To fine-tune our service and deliver the best experience possible, we are starting small, locally, in the San Francisco Bay Area, with our own primary care clinic. We will soon start adding independent practices on our network to expand Carbon into urgent and other specialties throughout the US.
I’m excited to be sharing Carbon Health with the Product Hunt community and would love to hear your thoughts and questions!
@erenbali Really required product. Healthcare needs to be fixed. Kudos.
I was wondering if you would be open to make a chatbot on Facebook messenger. Users will be able to book appointments etc through your Facebook page only, no need for the app. Reminders etc can also be delivered there. Anything that can be done through the app, can be done through Facebook chat.
We at http://morph.ai can help you with that. Drop in a mail at ishan@morph.ai. Check our demos at http://morph.ai/demos.
Great service. I had to go to a Primary care clinics few times, totally hate it. It needs to be fix and modernize. It seems Carbon is doing it. When are you guys coming to Los gatos area?
@karoramj23 We give an end-to-end platform to the doctors (https://carbonhealth.com/ehr) and charge a small percentage of their total collections. So it's pretty much a marketplace type business model.
I have been watching some of Pablo's Flinto videos and looking forward to the launch. Just went through the onboarding experience online and it is very smooth! Nicely done. Healthcare does need to be fixed. Online booking would obviously help and see that you have that. My concern is less on the technology and user experience side but more on whether or not this app / service as it today is enough to change people's habits. Getting sick, for most people, does not happen everyday. Would the user remember to open the app at that time? I also wonder a little bit about the significance of people seeing a doctor for a simple cold / flu. I know people like the seeing the doctor but it's pretty rare that anyone really needs to see the doctor. Am confident you have thought through all of this very carefully and I, of course, have not been studying this issue closely. Great looking product, interesting idea and look forward to seeing how this evolves.
@askdaylen You can schedule appointments on Carbon like you do on ZocDoc, but then Carbon handles taking your medical history, reminding you about your appointment, letting you message your doctor, giving you back your lab results, providing your insurance info, paying for your visit, sharing your medical records, and more.
I recently had to find a doctor and couldn't set an appointment online the same day. I heard about carbon and ended up trying it out. They were great and so friendly. Plus I love the UX of the app.
@evankimbrell
I've used One Medical before and I like the service, but there are some important differences between us.
Most importantly, while we're piloting Carbon with our own clinic, it can be deployed to (almost) any clinic. So ideally your specialist will use it, your urgent care doctor will use it, and your primary care doc will use it too. You as a patient would benefit from that integration.
Second, there's no extra fee with Carbon. Our goal is to create a concierge-level service powered by technology, so it doesn't cost more.
Third, we're doing more to empower patients. When you use Carbon, your complete medical record—the same one that the doctor sees—is on your phone. We think this will help people understand their health and their healthcare better, and they'll be healthier as a result. :)
Oh, and we have a bot that helps you with some simple tasks ;)
@erenbali Don't you think the EMR market is quite saturated?! and it's a lot of sweat to dislodge existing platforms used by providers. How are you planning to go about that?
@vidit@erenbali While there are a lot of EMRs out there, we are taking a very different approach and the providers we've talked to are eager to switch. Right now providers live in many different systems – one for records, one for scheduling, one for messaging (or just email, which is insecure), one for video calls, one for billing, one for patient intake. These systems are clunky, require copy-pasting between them, and sometimes there's no tech at all – just manual data entry. Also, providers have to spend precious time doing many tasks that would be easier for the patient to do, like selecting a pharmacy or choosing between qualified specialists. By re-architecting the way medical data is organized, we can streamline the whole treatment cycle.
I like the idea of having your health ID on the app. It's surprising though practices will sometimes still only take a hard copy.
I have a tangential question. How do you get that text me the app widget on your website?
