Causal is the financial planning platform for startups.
⚡️Connect directly to your QB/Xero, HRIS + CRM
📈 See your metrics (Runway, Burn) out-of-the-box
🎯 Customise your model's forecasts + scenarios
🖥️ Share live dashboards w/ your team + investors
Hi folks! I’m one of the founders/CEO of Causal. A bit of context behind the launch:
Before the market downturn, it was easy to ignore finance at Seed/Series A — funding rounds were huge, and the next raise was always around the corner. But not anymore — round sizes have come down, and the bar to raise a Series A/B has gone up. Runway matters again.
As a result, we've seen a huge uptick in demand and usage from earlier-stage teams over the last few months. So we've been working on a new self-serve product designed specifically for Seed/Series A companies: Causal for Startups.
Here's how it works:
⚡️ 1 min: Create an account and connect to your accounting + HR systems (e.g. QuickBooks/Xero + Gusto)
📈 2 mins: See a breakdown of your revenue, expenses, and burn over time, and drill down into the underlying transactions that make up each number
🖥️ 5 mins: Customise key assumptions to see an accurate view of your runway, and share interactive dashboards with your team and investors
🔀 10 mins: Explore multiple scenarios for different hiring and growth plans
📊 30–60 mins: Use our templates to build a detailed financial model for your company, with our best practices to guide you
The truth is that you don't need to spend ages on finance at Seed/Series A. The key "jobs to be done" are:
1️⃣ Knowing your runway
2️⃣ Planning your growth realistically(!)
3️⃣ Reporting back to your team + investors
We've built Causal for Startups as the quickest way to setup and put these 3 jobs on autopilot, freeing up your time to grow your business and find PMF.
We’re 3 years into our journey with 100s of companies of all stages using the platform, so you can rest assured that your Causal setup will scale with you as your business and org grow in maturity from Series A to B, and up to pre-IPO and beyond.

@taimurabdaal Congratulations Taimur and the Causal team on the launch of Causal for Startups! It's great to hear that you've been working on a product specifically designed for Seed/Series A companies.
Congrats on the launch @taimurabdaal! We love using this tool at Plus - makes models easy to create and easier to share than using Excel or Google Sheets
@taimurabdaal - Congrats on the launch. It is good to have a financial planning platform designed specifically for Seed/Series A companies. Quick question for you - How does Causal help startups customize and analyze different hiring and growth scenarios?
Hey @salil_sethi, thanks for the note! With Causal, you can create scenarios in real-time (downside, base case and upside +) to have a clear view of your path forward. You can do this in a couple of minutes (check out the explainer video above)
If you go through the tutorial at causal.app, there are clear steps to follow! If you have any issues, send us a note in the live chat.
Genius! I love how this connects to existing data sources to make financial interpretation and scenario planning straightforward for founders. In this uncertain climate/economy, knowing your numbers is more important than ever.
Congrats on launching 👏 Tried it and absolutely love it, a must to have tool for every Seed / Series A startup. What are the next integrations on the roadmap?
@andreyv We're working on improving our CRM integrations (we released them as a beta last week) and Stripe is coming out soon, too! What integrations are you looking for?
@lukaskoebis1 thank you @lukaskoebis1 can't wait to test CRMs and Stripe. Actually, Stripe is the one I'm looking for 😊
Which CRMs will you launch first?
I've been using Casual over the last 2 years for quick financial modelling. Awesome to see you've made it much easier to get started and keep all the data up to sync!
Great product, great founders.
Causal is incredibly powerful for a number of reasons. We used it to create our financial model in our last funding round: it was super useful to be able to easily toggle our projected growth depending on the amount invested. This simply wasn't possible in Excel.
One of our priorities, @real_el_duderino was to build a self-serve tool where users could see value quickly. We'd love your feedback to see if we accomplished that!
Modeling and forecasting are important than ever, and it is never to early to start. This product is absolutely killer when it comes to creating valuable tools quickly that can scale and stay relevant over time.
