This looks really amazing! Always wanted a super simple CRM/rolodex to strengthen my personal-based relationships and haven't found one that works yet - might give Clay a try here!
What sort of privacy measures are in place to ensure my data is safe / won't be sold off / tracked / viewed by Clay employees / etc.?

We focused on privacy from day one, so we wrote a human-readable privacy and security policy that goes into detail about each integration and how data is used, which you can read at https://clay.earth/security-and-.... Our goal is to eventually move data storage fully locally — happy to dive in more over email as well!
Hi Product Hunt! I'm one of the co-founders of Clay, and I'm super excited to share what we've been working on.
A couple years ago, @achariam and I came to a realization: despite how important building and maintaining relationships is to our personal and professional success, it's extremely difficult to do well.
Our relationships are fragmented across so many places: iMessage, LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, email, calendar – the list goes on! We never found a tool that worked quite right to help us be more thoughtful with our most important relationships.
After trying to cobble together partial solutions in Notion, Airtable, Apple Notes, and Evernote, we decided to build Clay from the ground up to solve this exact problem.
We knew it had to be beautiful, private, and carefully crafted to respect the human element of relationships. We also knew that it had to work for all kinds of relationships, across many types of professions and lifestyles. And so we did over 1000 customer interviews to get to the heart of how people express care and show up for the people in their lives.

This looks like a really cool concept and I like the idea of organizing information about people i know because im terrible at remembering who did what. I'll remember - i talked to somebody recently who just got a new job at Microsoft, and then im like wait who was that. Or so and so told me about a podcast, but i don't remember who it was! Would Clay help keep track of things like that? Planning to try it out!

That's exactly the inspiration — it's amazing how often we think about people by where we met, how we were introduced, things we talked about, or things we have in common. We built Clay's search specifically to make searches like that possible: "friend I met last year in politics", "twitter followers who mentioned 99% invisible podcast", etc.

Now this looks like something I need in my life. Too much time flicking between different social networks is certainly an issue... I just want the very best bits!
How do push notifications work? Would they compete with the original source notifications too?

Clay is an incredibly thoughtfully and aesthetically built product. I've been on the hunt for a personal CRM for a long-time before finally finding Clay. It's just too good. My favorite thing is the "Review" dashboard that curates (re)connection prompts and enables you to stay on top of your network 🙌 10/10 Product.

Been waiting for this to come out. The promise is awesome. Is there a two-way mechanism for users or community members to contribute to the roadmap with feature requests and/or report issues? I have some thoughts on this.

I keep getting errors when I attempt to sign in and sign up with Google:
@chrismessina Hi Chris! Did you have an existing Clay account? We just rolled out Sign in with Google so if you had an account via Sign in with Apple, you'll need to sign in with that first and then connect your Google account in Settings. Otherwise you reach out to us at care@clay.earth and we'll get that sorted!

I will preface this by saying that I was super excited about finally trying Clay, just because of the supposedly amazing search.
After trying it for a few days, I sadly have to say that the search isn't just less than amazing—it hardly works. I’ll list a simple example: Clay showed me that one the people I follow on Twitter moved to a certain city. Let’s say it’s “New York”. I search for “New York” and their name is not in the search results. Even though that exact keyword is in their profile, within Clay.
Frankly, I'm disappointed.
For some reason, it does not even sync my Google contacts, even though I logged in with my Google account. It pulls contacts from my Google calendar (without names!), but not from my contacts!
Connecting LinkedIn was a pain too. You cannot do it from the website, so at first I tried doing it through the iOS app but the process never started (frozen at “syncing”, 0% progress after nearly an hour). I downloaded the macOS app and it worked.
Anyway, I still love the concept and the design is incredible. So I really hope that they're gonna work on the issues I mentioned and turn Clay into the amazing app that I hoped it would be.
I don’t say this lightly — Clay is the bedrock of my life, more important to me than email and text messages. And, grateful for the artisans of craft that have carefully designed every imaginable nook and cranny of this product. Brings me so much joy to use. Every day! All day. Big day today! Excited.

I have been a user of Clay since the early days, and I must say I love the product. It's in my bundle of modern tools to keep me on top of my personal work life. Also, the team behind have been super responsive and dared to make bold decisions when iterating on the product.
Clay is one of the tools I love using in my everyday life, together with tools such as Arc, Superhuman, Texts, and Cron. They all keep me fast, responsive, and up-to-date. Excellent work, team Clay 👏🏽

I like the product - was waiting for something like this. but I wish more effort was spent on the core ux - working with my contacts data ; just importing them doesn’t cut it. I need to refine, correct, manage, merge, edit, organize it, etc.
It’s still buggy and slow and inconvenient.
The “stay in touch” and “social tricks” all come as a 2-3 priority.
Think about it- i don’t need another social network , but if you manage to be my one go to place for my contacts , you lock me in for good.
Something Facebook and phonebook failed to do.
BTW this is what the email inviting me to Clay (although i'm already a user :shrug:) says:
"Use Clay to:
- Find your next job or opportunity by leveraging your whole network in one place
- Stop doom scrolling and focus only on news and updates from people you care about
- Never forget a birthday again with powerful Facebook, Twitter, and Linkedin integrations"
Which makes me think the value props that Clay sets for itself are different from what it could be actually useful for..
Or it's an attempt to add a marketing wrapper over an obvious problem that "people don't realize they have". I think they do. I think we do.

@petergreeny Thanks Peter! 100% — we do lots of merging and editing behind the scenes, but we're building out much better tools for Clay members to edit and organize more seamlessly. It's a big focus for the coming weeks, so will keep you updated as we get those out.
