R2 gives developers object storage, without the egress fees. The service includes S3-compatible API and automatic regions. Storage is priced at $0.015 / GB, per month.

Cloudflare released a new cool sub-product. The file objects storage service. Unlike AWS S3, R2 does not charge you for data transfer, only for storage. The service has both a UI dashboard and obviously an API. I'm seriously thinking of switching from S3 to R2 for my project — Unicorn Platform. Since I work on a website builder, bandwidth may be a pain in the ass for us. Sometimes there are traffic spikes that bring us significant costs. If I switch to R2, I will be able to allow my users to upload larger files without being worried about getting a huge bill. During testing the new tool, I uploaded a photo of mine:



I did not even have to change DNS settings to connect a custom domain since Cloudflare managed it for me. Cloudflare looks more and more like a friendlier version of AWS to me 🙂 Looking forward to seeing their next updates.
