?makers Congratulations on the launch! It has been 11 months since the alpha launch, and I can already see such phenomenal progress :) What all integrations are possible with Clover, like for design, marketing, analytics etc? Would also love to know how PH community feedback helped you, and which feature is a result of the feedback? 😍
Tom Giannattasio
@adityavsc Many things were influenced by the PH community. We met a number of passionate folks here in the comments who joined our advisory group and chatted with us on a weekly – sometimes daily – basis. A few notable suggestions that came directly from the community: code blocks with syntax highlighting, copy as markdown, the UI for Daily Notes, inline page creation, and task rollover. Thanks for the help everyone! 🙌
Aditya
@attasi thanks to YOU and the team for working on the feedback and launching the beta version. #JustShipIt

Hey Product Hunt! Last year we posted a teaser about some of the things we were working on. Since then, thousands of you have joined our private beta and have been helping us shape the product. Today we're excited to open Clover Beta to everyone! Clover is a workspace that combines traditional productivity tools with creative thinking tools. It includes notes, whiteboarding, todos, and a daily planner. We built it because we found ourselves brainstorming in one tool, recording notes in another, and planning in yet another. Eventually our ideas were fragmented across so many tools that we didn't know where they were. We wanted something simpler, faster, and more flexible. At the core of Clover is a new type of document called a Surface. It combines the power of a modern text editor with the flexibility of a whiteboard (think Dropbox Paper meets Figjam). Its spatial workflow enables better brainstorming, enhanced memory, and intuitive organization. It's also pretty fun! Here are some other notable features: Robust Text Capabilities - Markdown formatting, code blocks with syntax highlighting, inline task features, slash inserter, dynamic references, and much more. Daily Notes - A doc per day to take notes, log journal entries, and plan work with due dates and automatic task rollover. Backlinking - Network your ideas together. Link to other pages or deep link to specific blocks and Clover will automatically add backlinks to connect the pages. Inline Tasks - Add todos within your notes for simple and intuitive task management. Add due dates and tasks will show up on your Daily Notes. Use color-coding to call out priorities. Presentations - Draw frames around important parts of your Surface. Hit play and present your frames as a slideshow. Embeds - Interactive embeds – YouTube, Figma, SoundCloud, and more. Sketching - Add wireframes, notations, and sketches right on top of your notes. There's also Apple Pencil support. Real-time collaboration - Share pages with guests and collaborate with them on the same Surface in real-time. Templates - Get started quickly with some useful templates based on popular productivity and creativity methodologies (eg, Eisenhower Box, Crazy Eights). Quick Note - Record a note or task from anywhere. You can even tell it what day you’d like the note added to using plain language. Customization - Build your own theme with intuitive controls for light / dark mode, chroma adjustments, sidebar shade / tint, and highlight colors. Full-text search - Search the text within all your pages to quickly jump directly to a specific block. We're hard at work on rounding out the tool. Here are a few things we're currently working on: - Tags - Tables - Import / Export - Android and Firefox support - A few surprises! We hope you'll give it a try and we'd love to hear what you think!

@attasi : Love this Tom. @arun_josephk you will truly love this. I believe this will make design collaboration a breeze. Right now we use Miro but we might just shift here 🌟
Tom Giannattasio
@arun_josephk @saascoach Thanks! We still have a lot to build for teams, but would love to hear from you about what you need.
Joseph Abraham
@arun_josephk @attasi : Our use case is 1. Storyboarding for videos 2. Image revisions for our SaaS magazine 3. Layout revisions for our SaaS magazine 4. Storyboarding, getting approvals from sponsor around images/videos and copy So for its both internal collaborators and guest collaborators, trust this gives a sneak peak 😀

@attasi @saascoach This looks great! lets try it out!

@attasi Used it and enjoyed. Surfaces were great for outlining articles, conceptualizing processes, and tracking tasks.

I am absolutely loving this beta product! Clover thinks like I do! :-) It does have a long way to go to catch up with the likes of Notion, Coda, Roam, Milanote, etc. but with this first taste, I am feeling very confident that they will achieve parity and possibly superiority in short order. The design is beautiful and the way everything intends to work together is brilliant. I can't wait to come along for the ride with Clover. It is going to really juice my creativity.
Tom Giannattasio
@just_s that’s great to hear! We’re happy to have you along for the ride! Cool things coming!

I’ve been using Clover in beta for the last few months, and it quickly became my daily note taking and organization tool. It’s got everything you’d expect, and a bunch that you wouldn’t: freeform drawing, infinite canvas, presentation mode and a lot more. Highly recommended!
Tom Giannattasio
@aaron_epstein Thanks Aaron. Your feedback along the way has been super helpful!

Anything this team builds is world-class execution. Jotting down my ideas and tracking them across my team has become much more natural ever since joining Clover! Thanks Tom & Team for creating such a great product.
Tom Giannattasio
@michaeldick Aww shucks, Mike. Thanks!

Hi there, it is a generally great product. I've signed up as a Beta tester even before when I just stumbled upon your product on Twitter, back before when it had its Notion-like, condensed sidebar UI. But to my surprise and disappointment I was given a Beta invite access, a week before it's real launch. To a completely different UI than I signed up for (but with the same webpage that's showcasing it's old UI, that later got updated with the new UI) It's all good I think, product launches go through a lot of design choices. So I gave it a shot. Here are my thoughts : - Completely misled by the webpage interactive demo that switches between Notes & Whiteboards that advertised on it's old webpage and still showcased on its sizzler video. That is really not possible in practice on the product right now. Upon creating a New Page, and you can choose whether to make a "New Document" or "New Surface". You cannot switch between both after the fact, or turn your "Document" into a "Surface" whenever your productivity demands, as it's imposed on the webpages and the marketing introduction video. - The colored timeline blocks on the YouTube video (0:07) really isn't possible at all, even with Frames with Text blocks inside it. I tried it myself. I was really bummed when I found that out. - I don't know really how Frames works back then or right now, and how are you able to Group blocks inside them, as demonstrated on the video, but I tried it myself and I cannot imitate the behavior from the video myself. I just can't. Frames more like acts like a link or boundaries right now (as far as I know), to show a point on your "Surface" to someone. I cannot make it associate with a certain block, that's why moving a Frame, doesn't move the blocks above it. I don't know what I am doing wrong about that. There's not even a documentation on the Help Center about it. - The smooth armed angled arrows and it's heads and tails automatically moving with the associated object or Block, isn't really possible right now on the "Surface". First of all, you cannot do that exact arrow, with the alternating, smooth angled heads and tails on the Arrow tool. Second, moving a block doesn't actually move the arrow associated with it. It's kinda misleading on the video. - Two column layouts (from the Screenshot 4) only available right now manually with the Surface whiteboards. Not possible with Document mode. - We would appreciate an ability to mention an exact Time on a Todo list block, and it'll remind you about that Todo at the exact time via a native Push notification (both on Desktop, Web and Mobile). Not even Craft or Notion can do it, this would be a great opportunity for Clover to one up it's direct competitors on a longstanding feature missing from Todo features from these fellow block-based documents workspace tools. - So much potential vs it's established block-based competitions like Craft or Notion, with huge emphasis and bet on inking, which it's competitors doesn't have any features regarding it. It's just for me right now, it's plagued with misdeeds of misleading features and promises of possibilities that I cannot ignore, from the hype video. Just don't do that next time okay? It's not cool, being so enthusiastic and hooked from the Product video, only for you to discover that exact thing or behavior isn't possible yet right now on the Product. Just remove those misleading features on your marketing and we'll be alright now.

Thank you ... finally! So many tools out there trying to get me to stop just using the Notes app and this was exactly the experience I've been waiting for to manage all of the ideas from zero-to-one.
Tom Giannattasio
@smarty Thanks Marty! Hope we can get you off of Notes for good.

Just discovered this, and as predominately a writer (coming from the comms industry, but trying to build some product design experience) I've constantly been bumping up against the notion of good writing apps, and then habits of sticking to one, as I've tried so many productivity tools to try and jot down ideas and share with designers. BUT having just discovered this I am so excited by having a "Figma for Writers" style whiteboarding app. I will be taking this for a spin over the next couple of weeks!
Mukul Ishwar
@attasi I was using the app and found it to be really intuitive, fulfils 90% of my needs. Just 2 things, if you can add database support like notion and Boards like trello that would be awesome
Tom Giannattasio
@mukul23 Awesome to hear! We've discussed these two features quite a bit. While not on our immediate roadmap, they are a consideration just about every dev cycle. :)
Max Ziel
Been a beta tester. Great product - basically replaced 3 other productivity tools for me. Would be great to get a clearer understanding of the security and privacy of the app from the makers?
Tom Giannattasio
@max_ziel Thanks for helping us test, Max! We added an FAQ page to our site recently to help answer some of your questions re: security / privacy. Here's a link: https://cloverapp.com/faqs. Let us know if you have more questions!
Nanka
Dear @attasi Absolutely amazing product. Great work, thank you for that. I wonder how open you are for some suggestions for Clover. I've seen a few features which I'm missing to actually start using it. :) Have a great day!
Tom Giannattasio
@nanka_keruna Thanks Nanka! Would love to hear your feedback! Want to shoot us a line at hello@cloverapp.com?

Love the hype video, really well done. Who helped make it? Would love a referral
Tom Giannattasio
@alancassinelli Our pal Joe made the video for us. You can learn more about his work here: https://www.joeski.com/. He's awesome!
Scott Hanford
It sounds like this is exactly what I need. Can't wait to try it out!
Tom Giannattasio
@scott_hanford 🙌 Thanks Scott!
Stephen Zeoli
I would recommend this product. It doesn't do much that other apps do not, but it does what it does in ways that make working more frictionless. The task features are especially well designed. It feels very mature for an app still in beta.
Nic Rodriquez
This seems to handle all the things I want to see my tasks, organize them and execute.. looking forward to trying this out!
Tom Giannattasio
@nicolas_rodriquez Please do and let us know what else you need! Thanks Nic.
Gopikrishnan Mohan
Does this work on iPad browsers? Is there an iPad app coming soon?
Brandon Jones
@gopikm Clover does work on iPad browsers. There is also a native app that is currently in Test Flight which you can download on your iOS device here: https://testflight.apple.com/joi...
