@eriklarsson we links comments to HTML elements for live commenting, so it should work for cases where only css is adjusted. If a completely different HTML is rendered pins positions might be broken (which is not a common case).
@pavelk2@jcutrell I think he means for leaving comments on responsive web applications. For instance commenting on a mobile view or desktop view dynamically. However I think the saving as an image is a good workaround in the short term, and frankly is likely way more reliable.
I'd like to say too that this tool has been great just this morning for communicating internal feedback to my team. Things I did previously with screengrabbing and photoshop can be done in seconds.
maybe that s the PH effect, but right now it does not work very well for me. lot of latency at uploading file. after pressing share i get no link to share
@mikhalyov can you give us an update here?
Why should people use this chrome extension over others in the space?
What are the most common use cases you have seen and how big do you think the opportunity is for a product like this?
Thanks @bentossell
> Why should people use this chrome extension over others in the space?
Sharing a feedback is a huge part of our job. Leaving visual feedback is the most effective way to do that :)
So why extension? It helps to create visual task-list for developer or designer right on the web page your are at the moment. No need to leave a website, use separate app for full-page screen capture, upload in manually on Codesign.io or other apps to leave and share your feedback.
Why Codesign extension? It's super easy and intuitive, like a pen and paper. It helps to track changes in-context with tasks statuses and discussing history. It can make and share a "live-board" or make an regular Codesign board with full page screenshot and your feedback with a single click.
> What are the most common use cases you have seen and how big do you think the opportunity is for a product like this?
The most common use case: Site or web app in online, you've found mistakes / bugs on it. Put your comments right on the page and share it (as a screenshot with pins, if you want). Share this codesign.io/live/___ link with your colleagues to discuss, than — with web-developer. Track the changes and tasks statuses with email notifications. Opportunities are all about web development, for other cases use Codesign.io :)
@johnnyquachy@bentossell hehe - but it is not a bad tactic. Establishing a bit trust with their former upload's success metrics. Not really good either :)
The plugin is interesting and Invision may have interest in this.
@iannikov Hi Ivan! Very good question. So far there are plenty of companies working in the area.
InvisionApp – focuses on serious companies, utilizing wireframes, visual mockups, interactive mockups. Very features rich and in some sense overload.
MarvelApp – Very similar to Invision, but focuses primarily on visual and interactive mockups of mobile applications.
Redpen.io – A minimalistic tool to exchange feedback on images.
Codesign focuses on making the sharing process the most transparent, avoiding a need of agreeing first about using the tool via email or Skype (difference from Invision and Marvel). Codesign supports TODO component, rather than discussions only (difference from Redpen). We at Codesign decided not to focus on prototype creation.
In general following our mission we aim to build the Simplest Feedback Tool.
@pavelk2@mikhalyov any plans for mobile app expansion? Just the way you cleared my desktop I'd love to see the tool clear my camera roll. I envision this would be an app that allows designers, PMs and anyone else to surf their websites on their phones, annotate screens and share right from the app. I am very excited for you guys and I think there's a lot of opportunity for growth.
@todkiry hey Tod. We just got a person allocated to implement Codesign iOS app. I would like to discuss features with you privately, it seems you have very interesting insights we are happy to learn from you :) Let's talk via email team@codesign.io (@mikhalyov and I will get it).
@mikhalyov have you considered use as a feedback tool for use in education? Sharing content and having the option to tag sections with questions or comments could be a tool for engagement. Good stuff.
@greaterthan1000 made me think of it as a better version of https://www.producthunt.com/tech... I say that because you are finding and sharing content while Kaizena has students upload their papers for feedback from their teacher.
@greaterthan1000 HI, Codesign is already nice tool for education. There are dozens of teachers giving feedback to students' projects with Codesign.io, we talk with them a lot and give them accounts with unlimited features.
Great thanks to @bentossell and @erictwillis, we are so proud to be featured again.
I’m co-founder at Codesign.io: featured for the first time here on Product Hunt with 795 upvotes, loved and used by over 4,000 web studios, agencies and their clients. We are building the simplest feedback tool for everything, started with images. It's time for websites.
With our new Codesign.io for Chrome creating and resolving tasks, discussing and sharing feedback on the web is super-easy. Start instant and energy-safe discussions right where you are on the page. Click — you posted the message, click — you uploaded or shared feedback. No real-time yet, sorry, but I hope you guys enjoy it.
If you have any problem, please send us a message on team@codesign.io
@anthonygawonlee Hi Anthony! Slack integration is actually already in development mode. I send you an email now, so you can try this integration even before others :)
