CollX — Scan sports cards to find out what they're worth

CollX (“collects”) answers the age-old question: “What’s it worth?” The app can scan any baseball, football, or basketball card and instantly ID it and get the avg market value. Then build a collection, track values, follow friends, trade, buy and sell.

Love this idea. I have a shoebox full of cards that my dad swears are worth something. This seems like a fun way to finally see if he’s right.

My kids got hooked on trading cards during the pandemic, and drew me back into the hobby. Collecting baseball and other sports cards was one of my first passions. So how is it possible that there still isn't a good way to figure out what they're worth?! Sure there are sites for super expensive graded cards, but most of ours are RAW (ungraded) cards, some vintage, some from 80s and 90s, and some modern. After months trying to help my boys price their cards -- with eBay, the local card store, a phonebook-like Beckett guide -- I broke down and built them a tool. Soon every kid in town was asking for it, and the idea for the CollX app was born. If you have a card shoebox gathering dust, scan them into CollX. You may be sitting on a goldmine! And even if your cards aren't, it's super fun building your collection, following your friends, and seeing what they've got. We'll soon be adding tools for assessing condition, as well as a marketplace for buying and selling. Stay tuned.

Pretty awesome. I have no idea why I am equating this to an NFT (but with actual value) in that the physical card is the ledger and the card in the app in the art. Probably the wrong analogy, but super interesting to have your card collection that you can share with friends locally, but still be able to "share" your collection digitally anywhere.

Congrats on the launch Ted. My son will be thrilled to begin scanning his collections and maybe even unload some dupes with the trading community! Neat way to partner with your kids and get them off to an early start in entrepreneurship!

Wish I had had the better sense to hold on to all my playing cards from childhood :-( This is a terrific app, developed by a superstar team.

Super fun to scan my old cards and see what they are worth now. Such simple to use technology and the UX is great. This seems like it is going to be a great platform for card collectors and sports aficionados.

What I love about CollX is that it makes card collecting fun even for those who aren't into it yet - very few products can grow their own total addressable market and CollX will definitely be doing that!

I would love to see this expanded into coins and stamps. Good job.
