What awesome product design! At first I thought "ugh another IG automation tool", and "what, a native mac app??"
But it's actually thoughtfully designed, and gives a very strong first impression, especially if you've used other ones in the past. Bravo! I'm really impressed.
Going to be poking this over the next week or two.
Just subscribed. Amazing product thus far. It would be nice to be able to segment the people you follow using this tool so you can go rinse them at a later date.
@alexandramalis Thanks. Two more feature requests: 1. Be able to avoid following/unfollowing people you've already followed/unfollowed. 2. Being able to drag and select users. Right now its either Select All or Manually click one by one. Sometimes I'd like to just drag and select an amount
@itsjlev 1. After the search, you can click on Filter button and select Hide followers or Hide followings and then have a selection of completely new users.
2. We will take it into our future features list as well as private accounts filter, thanks for suggestions, they are making sense!
Why does the app ask for my Instagram password rather than sending me to the instagram OAuth page? Makes it seem like you guys are 1) Not approved to use the instagram API, or 2) Don't use their API at all
=
@ashpangeek The application doesn't store your login or password, it calls for the access token from Instagram, so you can log in with your credentials, would it be more convenient to you to login on the OAuth webpage?
@alexandramalis That doesn't exactly make sense to me. I can log in with my credentials from the Instagram oauth page.
But yes, please do it the official way.
@dshan This. I got excited about the product and all, but the moment I saw a plain text login form within the app, I stopped right there and then. @alexandramalis Please add OAuth and I'm sold π Might be convenient if you announce it via newsletter once implemented.
@ramgangisetty Thanks for your interest, Ram, normally it should take 1-2 minutes, it's depending on the search criteria and on the popularity of hashtags.
@ramgangisetty Ram, this example shows that people do not often mention location US in general. I would suggest to try searching this hashtag in some universities or schools locations.
@amanda_schulze Amanda, sorry for late reply, you can contact me directly on a.malis@combin.com. yes the computer needs to be switched on, but the program can work in tray, limits will be increased till 1500 likes, comments and follows per day, both for Personal and Business plan.
@amanda_schulze Amanda, the waiting time of search is depending on hashtags popularity, if you wait too long please email us on support@combin.com, we will help you! Concerning TOS see my replies above on this question.
@steveraffner Thanks Steve! I was wondering more from a stance from, does Combin fall into the same boat as a tool like Archie (which was shut down)? Looking for something that will allow me to grow my account and adhere to the TOS as well.
@amanda_schulze@steveraffner Amanda, Combin doesn't use any bots or fake accounts chains, you perform all actions locally on your computer and give the right to the application Like, Comment or Follow.
App works as described. Great UI!
Curious about the app's limits. My main concern is Instagram's aggressive policy with bots like MP and Instagress. What differentiates your app from these bots in terms of Instagram's T&C compliance?
Btw, will the free plan be forever free? If not, any plans to offer a 'lite' paid version?
@irvingooi Ahh, we waited for this question! Combin follows the Instagram API guidelines, it's prohibited to use bots or participate in any other exchange networks for likes, comments and follows. When you click to leave the like or comment, you give the permission to application to do it on your part, this is permitted, please see the points 20, 21 and 22 https://www.instagram.com/about/...
Combin doesn't use any bots or fake accounts. Concerning the pricing question, yes the free version will be free, what do you mean about Lite paid version?
@alexandramalis Glad to know that Combin is working within the boundaries of the API guidelines! I've been waiting waiting for an app like yours for a while now -- something that allows users to crawl users and photos for manual engagement. It streamlines the entire process on a desktop setting :)
Ignore my comment on 'lite' paid. I was just curious if free will be deprecated. If so, then perhaps a cheaper lite version might be useful.
@irvingooi thanks for the kind feedback! yes, we designed the post preview to avoid that awkward, out-of-place comments :) We will think about cheaper lite version as well!
@alexandramalis Cool! Will test it on one of my accounts before using it on my main brand account. I want to get a feel for the crawl limits.
Btw, could you explain the "Intensity" settings? Is that the rate at which Combin scrapes users/hashtags?
I like this if not only because it's a cleaner web UI than the official Instagram website. I also enjoy the idea of building an actual community on insta, which this seems to make possible.
