I really enjoyed Dan Carlin's Hardcore History segment Wrath of the Khans and have been meaning to check out Common Sense. What episode do you recommend trying first, and what do you like most about it?
@alexcartaz Great question. Common Sense is tougher to get into because it's very much based on Dan's contrarian views of current events. Looking back though, these two episodes stand out as being really good and still relevant today.

This episode is from June 2014, around the time that ISIS was rising as a threat on an international scale. Dan gives a much more nuanced explanation of the situation that you won't hear on most mainstream coverage that just resorts to painting ISIS as "terrorists". He explains how the rise of ISIS is a natural reaction to the artificial borders imposed by European powers after World War I and explores why (while painful) the turmoil in the region might ultimately be a good thing in the long run.

Here Dan tries to think outside the box about how we can use technology / crowdfunding to undo the current influence of money on the political system. It veers into "never gonna happen" territory, but the ideas presented about how the general population can band together to fight entrenched interests are worth talking about.
I don't think you can go wrong picking either of these episodes depending on what topic interests you more.

This episode is also great. Dan doesn't typically do interview / debate shows on Common Sense, but here he talks to Sam Harris about terrorism, violence, Islam, morality in foreign policy and a whole lot of other things. It's a 2 hour+ debate between two brilliant guys who agree that we have a lot of problems in our foreign policy but have different views on how to fix them.
