My name is Rohan and I built CommonAR to accelerate meaningful in-person interaction.

After spending a significant amount of time throughout college hacking on projects for AR/VR headsets, I realized that despite being early in adoption, as it becomes the next major developer platform, they will completely reimagine many experiences we hold fundamental today.

At the same time, most successful early applications being developed for this novel landscape seem to play into existing trends of greater social isolation, digital immersion, and short-term dopamine satisfaction. Whether this be photorealistic AI companion avatars or underground virtual reality casinos, these applications seem to worsen not improve humanity's core battle with technology today: loneliness.

At CommonAR, we hope to use the monumental improvements being made in spatial computing to accelerate human interaction within the physical world. We believe AR/VR headsets can give us real-time context to increase the number of joyful serendipitous interactions we have daily. We are so excited by this future that we aren't willing to wait for everyone to have headsets but are starting with AR on mobile.

CommonAR's spatial networking events, create safe interaction hotspots limited to only accepted attendees, at the event's location, and within the event's duration. Simply scan the room or take a selfie with anyone you meet to skip the small talk and find the most meaningful topics for conversation. We also got you covered before and after. Before, use the similarity percentages in the attendee list to see who you may want to meet. After, never worry about forgetting to ask for someone's contact information as everyone you meet is automatically added to your contacts.
