Hi Product Hunt Community, 🔥 It has been quite some time since we at Corbado launched the last time on Product Hunt, so it is time to show what we have been up to since then! For everyone new, a quick introduction: I’m Vincent, software developer and co-founder of Corbado. We’re a small team who are all annoyed by passwords and striving for passkey authentication. Today, we’re launching State of Passkeys. 🚩 Problem: Little Data on Passkey-Readiness We noticed that there is little to no data provided to developers online on passkey adoption and passkey-readiness. Many product managers and developers have approached us and asked things like:
  • - Are my users’ devices ready to use passkeys via Conditional UI?
  • - Our users mostly use our iOS / Android app, can they all use passkeys?
  • - We have many macOS users who use Chrome as their browser, are their passkeys synced?
  • - Can you show some case studies of companies who successfully rolled out passkeys and what were their results?
Depending on the:
  • 💻 Operating system
  • 📲 Device type
  • 🖼️ Browser
of the users, product managers and developers might want to assure that passkeys are the right choice for them but could only use rough estimates or trust their gut feeling. 🔑 Solution: Largest Real-Life Data Set on Passkeys To help make a data-driven decision for passkey projects and get transparency into passkey discussions, we made our internal dataset publicly available and built State of Passkeys – the largest passkey-readiness dataset that exists:
  • 📈 Get adoption data and compare the readiness of passkey features (WebAuthn, platform auth, Conditional UI, and passkey sync)
  • 😊 Test your device’s readiness of passkey features
  • 🔐 Learn how best-in-class companies rolled out passkeys and benefitted from it
Check out State of Passkeys and get all the insights: state-of-passkeys.io 🌈 Let’s make the Internet a safer place together! Our team will be hanging out in the comments to respond to your feedback and questions! 🙌 What’s your experience with passkeys so far? Big thanks to @lrueger for hunting!

Congratulations on the launch🚀 Your app looks fantastic and truly innovative. Well done!

Well done, @vdelitz! State of Passkeys is an impressive tool that fills a significant gap in the market. The detailed breakdown by operating systems and browsers is particularly useful. How do you envision companies leveraging this data to improve their security measures? Any success stories you can share from early adopters?
Vincent Delitz
@renchu_song great question, thanks! When talking with developers and product managers who have just started to do their research on passkeys, the question always is: can my users use passkeys in the first place? I know passkeys are still fairly new, but most of the devices support passkeys. Often it's the dev / pm who needs to convince their superiors that passkeys are not only the future of authentication but already be implemented + used today. Then, this dataset comes in handy as they can simply send a link to their superiors or filter it based on their user base.
Congratulations on the launch of State of Passkeys, a timely and valuable resource in the evolving landscape of digital security. The provision of real-time data on passkey-readiness is crucial for understanding the current state of security across different platforms and devices. This tool is not only informative but also instrumental in guiding the industry towards a more secure future. How will the adoption of passkeys reshape the way we approach authentication and what new challenges and opportunities will arise as we move towards a more passwordless ecosystem?
Vincent Delitz
@flowsz Great question! I think there's still a lot of uncertainties in the ecosystem around passkeys / passwordless auth. With State of Passkeys, we want to bring some transparency into passkey-readiness and show the world that users and their devices are ready for active passkey usage.

I wish PH should have been using Passkey right now.

Seems powerful. I'll try it. Congrats on this launch! @vdelitz

Before rolling out passkeys, get a grip for the current state of passkey-readiness of your users! State of Passkeys provides the largest dataset on passkey-readiness for developers and product managers who want to make sure that their passkey rollout will be a success! Keep up your great work, @vdelitz and team! 🔥🤩
Vincent Delitz
@lrueger thanks for hunting and your continous support over the past months!
Star Boat
Wow, this is a game changer! 🚀 Excited to see real-time passkey readiness data. Let’s ditch those passwords once and for all! Great work, @vdelitz!

Hey Vincent, this looks super useful! A few questions - Will this work for all browsers? And how often do you plan to update the dataset? Anyway, love the transparency you're bringing to the space.
Vincent Delitz
@asherdorianthorne great question and thanks for the kind words! The testing tool on the top of the page works indeed for all browsers. For the dataset below, we filtered it to display only the most common browsers: Chrome, Edge, Safari, and Firefox. Technically, we would also have raw data for more exotic browsers (e.g. Brave, Arc, Samsung Internet and others). However, the data points may not be very representative (also we wanted to keep things simple for the first iteration). Would it help you to get more browsers? Data is automatically updated once a day.

@vdelitz Congratulations on the launch of State of Passkeys, Vincent! Your dataset is a groundbreaking resource for the community. I found the interface intuitive, but I'm curious about how you plan to incorporate user feedback into the ongoing development of State of Passkeys to keep it relevant and useful for developers?
Vincent Delitz
@zephyrion we have a Passkeys Community where developers regularly share their feedback and based on this community input we incorporate new features
