We used this product very early in alpha and beta for different events at different scale and we loved it. The 8bit style is super intuitive and lovable and the team worked on amazing features and is in with all their hearts. It is made with love and all users felt that and gave some love back. :)
I tried out the Cosmos demo and like the vibe! It may actually make an impact on team culture. Will introduce to my team and share more feedback later.
Cosmos has significantly improved the level of engagement and the culture around our (now virtual) office. The interface is beautifully simplistic and the 8-bit aesthetic creates a fun atmosphere whenever team members/guests enter the space. The ability to work functionally within the platform is the closest replication to an in-office environment that I've found and the team loves the ability to break off for a quick game during our breaks.
Hey ProductHunt ๐! Weโre @karan_baweja1 and @rahul_goyal, co-founders of Cosmos Video.
๐งโ๐ฆฒ๐ณโโ๏ธ Our history
Weโve known each other for 14 years. Before Cosmos, we went to engineering school together, attended business school together, lived together, and built and sold our first startup together. Cosmos is our second startup.
๐ค Why we started
Before the pandemic, we were leading product teams at Citymapper and Wise in London. We used to love going to a physical office - it allowed our teams to build culture, communicate fast and share context. Sharing a space with our teams meant bumping into each other, which led to casual conversations and created a sense of belonging.
We missed this way of working, and wanted to create a product that captured the benefits of being in an office, while working remotely. Last September, we set about building virtual spaces that replicate physical offices by combining video chat with a Minecraft like game.
๐๐ฅณ The journey so far
We hadnโt realised the difficult task we had signed up for - you only realize these things with hindsight. When we started, we had no idea how game development works. We learnt from scratch what sprites meant and how the virtual world was created, what WebRTC is and how complex building video tech is. A year since starting our journey, and after a lot of perseverance, weโve built something that we feel works and can be showcased to the world.
๐ What youโre all thinking
There are products similar to us in the market such as Teamflow, Gather Town, Mibo etc. We think everyone is trying to figure out the right UX and feature set. While there are undeniable similarities, each company has their own take on the user experience and features due to their own experiences with their respective user base. Our focus throughout has been on delivering the best virtual HQ experience out there.
๐ก How to introduce Cosmos to your team? 1. Have regular meetings (such as standups) on Cosmos, after which the team naturally breaks into smaller groups to discuss.โจ You can use whiteboards and apps integrated within Cosmos such as Google docs, sheets, Figma, Miro etc.
2. Socialise during happy hours or lunches - Cosmos is perfect for doing socials. Your team can move around, naturally break into groups and move in and out of different conversations. Cosmos has 20+ games (1-player, 2-player and multiplayer) - Pong, Gartic phone, Jigsaw, and Who said it best are some of our favourites.
3. Virtual HQ, all day every day - Sit with your team on a shared desk, hold meetings in meeting rooms, walk up to others to ask a question or casual chit chat.
๐ Cosmos is free for teams of 10, and for larger teams, the first month is free. Cosmos supports upto 150 people in an office, and meetings can have upto 35 people.
Thanks so much for checking us out, weโd love to hang out with you! We have set up a special space for product hunters, come talk to us here.
Our team really love using Cosmos, as half are working remotely overseas and half are local employees. Working from home is still the default for Singapore and it really helps us bond and have fun together through the games. We also feel like we are back in our office as we can have quick huddles any time just being in Cosmos. Things get done much faster. Thank you for making such a great product as we often grow frustrated and lonely while working from home, but not anymore!
@adityabatura thank you Aditya for your support! This is exactly why we built Cosmos, and it's heartwarming to hear that this is how you find it. Please don't hesitate to give us any feedback that will help us make Cosmos even better for remote teams, and serve you better!
@vaibhavsisinty thanks Vaibhav! We hope you find Cosmos useful & fun, and please we'd love to hear your feedback on how we can make the product even better for remote teams!
Cosmos will give you that fulfillment feeling being at your own virtual office head quarters once again with all your office mates from anywhere remotely.
Testvox, a team of 40 have been using Cosmos from the last couple of months
Looks interesting, but there is no contact link or chatbot on your site, so posting this here in the hope you see it.
You have no pricing info on your site, so you almost lost us. We will not consider software that does not state pricing. Can't take time to schedule a call with everyone who might be of interest.
Saw this on your PH page, just in time:
"Cosmos is free for teams of 10, and for larger teams, the first month is free. Cosmos supports upto 150 people in an office, and meetings can have upto 35 people."
That is something but not enough. Please explain.
Thanks
@peter_turovskyy thanks Petro for the support! ๐ช We hope you have an amazing time using Cosmos, and find it useful and an exciting way to conduct remote work ๐
