Hi everyone, I'm Prateek, one of the co-creators of Glu AI 👋
When we started solving customer churn in 2016, we didn't even know about terms like CAC, LTV, and were complete outsiders to marketing as an industry. I was fresh out of college.
Over the years, while working with over 100+ consumer internet brands and having an amazing set of backers like Paradigm Shift Capital, Pentathlon, SmartStart, Better Capital, Techstars, and a strong roster of angels.
In our quest to truly simplify the daily workflows of a Product Manager - we kept on launching new offerings, starting with Churn Prediction, then realized that predictions alone aren't enough - and marketers need marketing action recommendations, hence we built MARS.
We soon realized that all the marketing actions, esp for mobile apps are sent as Push Notifications - which can be annoying and spammy , the same case applies to Whatsapp/SMS. No one likes intrusive comms. 🤷♀️
We started researching popular apps like Duolingo, Snapchat, Robinhood, and Google Pay to name a few - these brands have addictive user experience - and a common thread is using game mechanics to keep their users hooked aka Gamification.
If Gamification is so powerful, why isn't everyone doing - 2 key problems:
1️⃣ Brands don't know where to begin - should they use a Streak vs a Quest
2️⃣ Experimentation is messy - each update to an existing program requires a team of engineers, designers, PMs + a lot of time for 1 iteration.
Soon, we launched CustomerGlu in 2020 - a Gamification-led Growth platform, where PMs can create and manage Gamification experiments from pre-designed templates, and launch them on their own, without app updates or any code changes.
Even with a DIY and easy platform - it'd still take 2-3 days to create 1 campaign, as it'd require copywriters for content and designers for theme/assets.
Today, we're launching Glu AI - which takes care of generating a production-grade template with just a text prompt, all of this without copywriters and designers; returning the control back to PMs.
This wouldn't have been possible without a well-seasoned team - big thanks to all the makers.

Pro tip: You can get more relevant adding more context around the Theme colors, rewards and number of steps in the case of a streak

Despite my involvement in the creation of this Product, It's still amazing to see how well it captures the essence of the prompt! 🧠
It used an 8-bit themed font style, and colours, rewards related to Playstation on receiving the prompt:
“Playstation themed Streak of playing games daily to get PSN credits as reward” 🎮
Campaigns can easily be tweaked by using the right prompts (or manually via the Editor 📝)
💡 Some tips for getting more tailored results:
🔢 Add details like the number of steps in a streak, number of questions in a quiz, in the prompt
🎁 Add details on the rewards to be given out on completion of the campaign, in the prompt
🎨 Tweak themes by explicitly stating colours or giving inspirations like "Chocolate", "Starbucks", etc.
🎡 Spin the wheel can also help in deciding or choosing something- "Pastel themed Spin the Wheel to help choose an ice cream flavour"

After about 6 quizzes, 4 spin the wheels and a couple of streaks, I'm fully glued in. It's amazing how quickly these are generated and how the theme is always a very close match to the prompt.

Gamification can work for B2B and D2C as well. In fact, we use our own tool to onboard Customers via an Onboarding challenge and drive users to experiment with a campaign streak. We've also seen Dropbox/Notion run good onboarding checklists and referral programs.

People don't want to learn a language, right? They want a game to help them learn because that helps them come back every day.
